4 people were killed and dozens of injuries have occurred following the major earthquake that struck the Luzon region of the Philippines. Over a hundred buildings were damages across the region. The earthquake struck the province of Abra at 8:43 a.m. local time, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was at a depth of 10 kilometres(6 miles). Landslides and interruptions in power were also reported across Luzon. About 10 cities and 280 towns felt the quake. Several roads were rendered impassable. The quake was even felt in the capital, Manila, but the worst of the shaking was to the North. The Northwestern regions Ilocos and Mountain province were most affected. Churches and historical buildings suffered damage. There still could be more significant earthquake activity going on in the world.
