Update: 9/25/21

Yesterday morning, a magnitude 6.1 occurred in the Aleutian Islands(Alaska, U.S.A.). So far now, there is not much else going on. There may not be anymore significant activity going on in the world for now. At the same time, it can always change later on. It has been an active week. The next active window may be 2 weeks from now. However, another strong earthquake occurring somewhere within the next 7 days still is not out of the question of course. It seems like after there has been some signs of seismic activity going on in the New Madrid Seismic Zone daily for a week or so, there is nothing going on there for days following that. There has not been any signs of activity going on in Eastern TN/Appalachian region in a while. Western Texas has had a lot of activity going on recently.

Update: 9/22/21

A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the coast of Nicaragua this morning at 4:57 a.m. It had a moderate focal depth of 20 miles and was located 48.5 miles off the coast of the beach resort of Jiquilillo. No tsunami warning was issued and there were no immediate reports of damage. Meanwhile in Australia, buildings in Melbourne were damaged from the magnitude 5.9 tremor, but there were no immediate reports of serious injuries or deaths. Hospitals were forced to evacuate. Earthquakes of that size in that region are rare. The potential threat for more significant activity out there in the world may not be over yet. That may also be it for now but it still feels tense out there right now at this point.

2nd Update: 9/21/21

More significant activity has indeed occurred in other parts of the world today. Earlier, a magnitude 6.4 struck near the coast of Bio-Bio, Chile. No damage or injuries were reported. A magnitude 5.8 just struck Southwestern Australia an hour ago, which is not common in that part of the world for an earthquake of that size. Its epicenter was 128 kilometers(79.5 miles) east of Melbourne, Victoria's State Capital. So far, there have not been any reports of injuries. However, there have been reports of damage to buildings in the Melbourne area. More seismic activity has been occurring in Southern California today. A mag. 3.7 with an aftershock of 3.5 occurred near Anza. Numerous micro quakes have followed, like a swarm. There has also been some more seismic activity occurring across other parts of the United States today and there could be more to come within days. Multiple small quakes have occurred across Texas and Oklahoma. There have also been more micro quakes occurring in the New Madrid Seismic Zone each day over the past week. A mag. 3.1 occurred there last Monday on the 12th which was felt by a number of people in the area. Small earthquakes in intraplate seismic zones are far less frequent than small earthquakes along plate boundaries, so the NMSZ may have been showing signs of becoming more active lately. There have been periods where there has not been any micro EQs in the NMSZ in several days while some more micro EQs have occurred in Eastern TN.

Update: 9/21/21

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck the Kuril Islands yesterday and there has been more moderate activity occurring around parts of the world. There is still a high potential for more significant activity going on somewhere. Other places to watch may include: Chile, Peru, Central America, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia(Banda and Molucca Sea regions), Izu Islands(Japan).. At the same time, the activity could be relatively low for now. There is still a high potential for more significant activity in the world this week.

New EQ Watch: 9/19-26/21

So far, there is a very high chance of mag. 6 or greater somewhere in the world this week so far. There could be a strong earthquake somewhere any moment now or sometime within the week. Regions that could be under the gun may include: Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands region, Tonga, Vanuatu, New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia(Banda Sea region, Sulawesi, Molucca Sea region, Sumatra), East Timor, Myanmar(Burma), Japan, Kuril Islands, Central America, Chile.. There has also been more activity occurring across parts of the United States over the past day or two including a mag. 4.1 in Western Texas and today a mag. 4.1 struck Oklahoma. More small quakes have occurred in the New Madrid Seismic Zone and a small mag. 2.6 occurred off the coast of Rhode Island. More earthquakes have also flared up in the Stanley, Idaho area and some more activity is heating up in parts of Alaska. So far, it may be becoming more active in the world again any moment now, but at the same time, it could go quiet before more significant activity starts taking place this week.

Outlook: 9/18/21

I'm no longer going to give an outlook for the rest of the month because there is no way of telling what could be going on 2 weeks from now. Things can change within a day or even hours. I'm still feeling there may be more activity going on out there in the world. There is a high potential for a magnitude 6 or bigger somewhere within the next 5-7 days so far. I doubt there is going to be a major outbreak before the month is over as there were already a lot of explosive periods over the past two months. There has been some signs of more activity in the New Madrid Seismic Zone over the past week. A magnitude 3.1 occurred in Western Tennessee almost a week ago. There has been a lot of seismic activity going on in Southern California late yesterday and this morning. There has also been more activity occurring in Central and Northern California. There may be more going on in Central and/or Northern CA and/or Nevada any time now. More activity may also be continuing to take place across other parts of the U.S.

Update: 9/13/21

An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 struck Argentina early Monday. Preliminary data revealed that the quake occurred at a depth of 180 km(111 miles). Its strength may have been tempered by its depth below the surface. The quake was likely felt by many in the area, but probably did not cause any injuries, deaths, or significant damage. There still could be more going on out there in the world. A magnitude 3.1 occurred in Western Tennessee late last night. At least 44 people reported feeling the earthquake on the USGS website. It was part of the New Madrid Seismic Zone. There also may have been something in the Appalachians overnight. It appeared on seismometers around Eastern TN. It was probably in southeastern TN.

New Watch: 9/10-15/21

There is a lot of activity going on in the world again now so far. There may be more mag. 6+ going on somewhere any time or day now again. Regions that could be candidates would include: Indonesia(Java, Sumatra, the Banda Sea region), Papua New Guinea, Myanmar, Western China, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, the Kuril Islands, Japan(Hokkaido), the Aleutian Islands, possibly the eastern Carribean plate region, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Tonga, Greece... So far, it is showing signs of being active again out there. There may also possibly be something going on in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, British Columbia, or Southeastern Alaska. There have also been more earthquakes occurring around the Western United States. There could be more activity coming up in the Central and/or Eastern United States any time or day now. It could end up winding back down again in the world, but as of right now, it could be acting up again.

Update: 9/8/21

A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck near the beach resort of Acapulco, Mexico last night. A man was killed by a falling post and it triggered rock slides and buildings were damaged. It may not be over yet. There still could be more significant earthquake activity taking place somewhere else in the world. I'm still feeling some pain. I'm not sure where it is coming from. So far, there has been little activity taking place on the eastern side of the United States. However, there could be more coming up within the days to come. I'm not sure, but there could be something going on somewhere around this side of the country. There has been more activity occurring in the west. There could be something going on somewhere along the Pacific Northwest coast or the Gulf of Alaska region.

Update: 9/7/21

A magnitude 6.0 struck the Tonga region earlier. There still may be more significant activity on the rise in the world. It could be a slow-burning, drawn-out episode(active window). There could be a brief quiet period between more significant earthquakes within the week ahead. This watch may extend through the weekend. Other regions of possible concern may include: Western Turkey, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Japan(Kyushu or Hokkaido), Central America, Bolivia, Chile, Indonesia, Myanmar or Central Asia... There has also been ongoing activity in Southeastern Alaska. I'm also monitoring that area.

Update: 9/6/21

There were reports turning up on my feed of a magnitude 6.5 in the British Columbia area. As I retweeted the reports, I had a feeling there wasn't a strong earthquake anywhere. There so far has been a couple of earthquakes in the high magnitude 5 range over the last few days. The activity is not real low but there have been numerous smaller events in the world. There is still a very high chance of magnitude 6 or greater in the world within the next several days or any time now. Regions that could be candidates for the next significant earthquake may include: the Gulf of Alaska region or possibly the Pacific Northwest coast, the Kuril Islands, Japan(Hokkaido), the Northern Mariana Islands, Central America, Peru, Chile, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Indonesia, Myanmar, Afghanistan region... Again, there still may be some more significant activity going on somewhere out there any time or day now so far.

Update: 9/4/21

So far, there is not very much going on out there yet. I have not been feeling it lately, at least since yesterday. However, it may likely become active within the next few days. It could still become active somewhere out there today, but at the same time, it could stay quiet all day. I extended the watch to the 10th for a reason. There was some moderate earthquakes occurring over the past 2 days, but it may not be that active anywhere yet. Mag. 6+ somewhere in the world within the next 5-7 days are highly likely. Regions that could be candidates may include: Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Northern Mariana Islands, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Afghanistan region, Greece, Western Turkey, Chile, Central America, the Kuril Islands region, Aleutian Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Fiji region.. In the meantime, some more seismic activity is flaring up in Southern and Central California. There may still be more activity occurring across parts of the U.S. There has been ongoing activity in parts of Texas and parts of the Interior West such as Idaho. There is also activity increasing in Alaska right now.
