Outlook: April 30 - May 7, 2020

There is very little going on here and elsewhere in the world so far. A strong earthquake somewhere in the world later today is still possible. However, it may also remain very quiet until this weekend or next week. It is showing no signs of acting up more in Southern California now as well. It could however, become a lot more active here and elsewhere in the world by next week. It could end up increasing today, but it is uncertain. At this point, I'm not even going to bother scrolling through Twitter for new reports or looking at the USGS realtime earthquake data. I know when there is a lot going on and when there is hardly anything worth getting excited about when it comes to this subject matter.
Again, a strong earthquake could still happen today, whether it be within a couple of hours or later. At the same time, it could remain relatively quiet for another 2 or 3 days out there. A magnitude 3 or greater could still occur in Southern California today, but I will not be surprised if it remains devoid of event for another day or two. There may suddenly be a surge of large events worldwide by next week. Potential regions of concern would include: Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Central America, parts of the Caribbean, New Zealand, Scotia Sea region, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Philippines(Mindanao), Indonesia(Sumatra, Sulawesi, Tanimbar Islands, Talaud Islands), East Timor, Andaman Islands region, Central Asia(Myanmar, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, or Pakistan), possibly the Caspian Sea region..
Again, something large happening today is not out of the realm of possibility. Neither is a magnitude 4 or greater in Southern or Central California. I in fact, would not be surprised if there is an explosion in activity here in Southern California tomorrow or by later this afternoon or evening. I am in fact suspecting a lot could take place at least by next week.

Update: April 23, 2020

It may have gone quiet during the overnight hours(California time), but it is now showing signs of more dangerous activity somewhere in the world. The chances of magnitude 7 or greater anytime now or sometime within the next week are extremely high.
Areas to watch include: Japan(Honshu, Hokkaido, Ryukyu Islands), Southern Alaska and/or the Aleutian Islands, Tonga, Fiji, Kermadec Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, Indonesia(Sulawesi, Halmahera, Talaud Islands, Tanimbar Islands, Java, Sumatra), Andaman Islands, Western Xizang - China, Northern India, Central America, Chile, Peru...
There may not be much taking place here in Southern California right now, but the potential for more magnitude 3 or greater anytime now or sometime this weekend are still very high. There is still a very high chance for magnitude 4 or greater in Southern and Central California anytime within the next week or sooner.

EQ WATCH: April 22-May 1, 2020

The chances of magnitude 6-7+ worldwide any moment or day now have spiked again. An earthquake of at least magnitude 6 somewhere any moment now or by Friday is extremely likely so far. There is a very high chance of a magnitude 7 or greater at least by the end of this month or early into next month. So far, that is where it stands.
Regions that might be candidates for the next large earthquake include: the Ryukyu Islands region(Japan), Taiwan, Japan(Honshu or Hokkaido), Kuril Islands, Aleutian Islands(Alaska, U.S.A.), Northern Mariana Islands, Philippines(Batan or Babuyan Islands or Mindanao), Papua New Guinea, East Timor, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Talaud Islands, Tanimbar Islands, Molucca Sea, Flores Sea, or Banda Sea region), Andaman Islands, Myanmar, China(Xizang), Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, or Northern India, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Central America, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands..
That sounds like practically everywhere, so I will try to narrow it down. Regions I have been monitoring the most recently are the Ryukyu Islands, the Timor Trench region, the Molucca Sea region, Central America, Central Asia(Including the Xizang province of China), the Northern Mariana Islands, and Chile(or Peru or Argentina). So far, there is an extremely high chance of a major earthquake anytime now or within the next week. There is still a very high potential for more mag. 3+ in Southern California anytime or day now.
There may also be more taking place in other parts of California and the West such as Idaho and Utah. There is a very high chance of mag. 4+ here in Southern California as well as the Searles Valley this week or next week. There may also be something potentially significant going on up in Alaska or Canada(Yukon Territory or British Columbia) anytime or day now. At the same time, it may not be anything at all.

Update: April 20, 2020

So far, the activity around the world has dropped. Very little is going on now so far. It could stay quiet all day or it may suddenly act up at any time somewhere. So far, at this point, it might dip then increase dramatically over the next few days. Large earthquakes are likely imminent in various regions of the world. There is at least a high likelihood of magnitude 6 or greater within the next 3-5 days. At the same time, a large event could suddenly occur somewhere at any moment. There is also that chance where something suddenly goes off somewhere while it is dead quiet everywhere else.
When it comes to trying to determine where the next big quake might hit, it is virtually impossible to know exactly where and when. I cannot rely entirely on which places have had the most activity most recently. Regions to look out for in terms of significant or major earthquake activity include: Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Central Asia(Western China, Northern India, or Afghanistan), Turkey or Greece, Italy, Japan, Micronesia region, Guam, Tonga, Solomon Islands region, Chile, Argentina, and Central America. There is a potential for some more activity taking place up in Alaska with the chance of it being significant or possibly in the Yukon Territory.
There is a strong chance of more seismic activity increasing in Eastern California as well as Central and Southern California anytime now. More activity might be on the rise here in Southern California this week so far. In terms of more serious earthquake activity around the world, it may remain quiet for right now, but it still could suddenly act up somewhere at any time. It could increase significantly any day this week or hold off until this weekend. There could be more significant activity on the rise for Southern California any day now. There is still a potential for something more significant going on here within the next 2 weeks.

Outlook: April 18-26, 2020

So far, more significant activity has started to take place in parts of the world. A magnitude 6.6 occurred in the Bonin Islands region overnight. At this point, it could become quiet for now or it could become violently active any moment or day now. A major earthquake might be imminent somewhere at any time or within the week ahead. It could also be at the end of this month or possibly later. There have been months where the world has gone without a magnitude 7 or greater.
However, more large earthquakes are likely at least any day now or within the week ahead. Regions that may be hit include: the Northern Mariana Islands(including Guam), Ryukyu Islands(Japan), Batan and Babuyan Islands(Philippines), Myanmar, Xizang-China, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Greece or possibly Italy, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Tanimbar Islands, Molucca Sea region, Banda Sea region), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Kermadec Islands, Japan(Hokkaido), Kuril Islands, Aleutian Islands, Central America, Chile, Colombia, possibly the Caribbean..
I'm still closely monitoring the Banda Sea region and East Timor. I'm also still watching the Ryukyu Islands region which is an area I have been concerned about for a while. I did not let that one go. The Northern Mariana Islands get get hit next. The Southwestern Pacific, the Aleutian Islands or perhaps Alaska's Kodiak region could also potentially have a strong earthquake at any time. There is a high chance for more mag. 3+ quakes in Southern California as well as Central or Northern California so far. There could be a lot going on this coming week.

Update: April 16, 2020

There is a lot going on everywhere. There are a handful of places to watch out for it seems. A major earthquake may be imminent somewhere at anytime. At this point, a magnitude 7 or greater within the week ahead is of a high likelihood so far. That could also change where it does not happen for another 2 or 3 weeks. Yet, it could occur somewhere at any moment or any day. There are various regions that could be the next to be hit by a major earthquake.
Places to watch out for include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Taulaud Islands, Tanimbar Islands, Molucca and Banda Sea region), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Philippines(Batan and Babuyan Islands, Ryukyu Islands(Japan), Central Asia(Myanmar, Tajikistan, Western China, or Northern India), Turkey or other parts of the Eastern Mediterranean, Tonga, Vanuatu, Kermadec Islands, Fiji region, Kuril Islands, Aleutian Islands, possibly Southern Alaska, Central America, Chile, Argentina, or Peru...
I named a lot of different regions. However, some of the regions I have been most recently concerned about are: the Banda Sea, Molucca Sea, and East Timor region, the Batan and Babuyan Islands, the Ryukyu Islands, Central Asia, the Eastern Mediterranean, Aleutian Islands, and Central America.
I have also been concerned about something more significant going on within the States. Although I'm doubtful at the same time, there is the possibility of more taking place in parts of the West such as Utah, Nevada, or even here in California any day now. Right now, there may not be much going on here in Southern California, but more activity might start increasing anytime now. More magnitude 3-4+ are likely on the rise within the next week or sooner. It just feels like something significant could possibly be taking place somewhere that is less than 3,000 miles to less than 1,000 miles from my location.
I'm not sure whether it is coming from other areas of the West or Southern Alaska or the Pacific Northwest. There is no telling exactly how big it could be. The way an earthquake occurs is that it becomes big. A fault or surface area can suddenly slip all the way. It is impossible to be sure as to what may happen next. It also may not happen. It is better safe than sorry.

Update: April 14-21, 2020

So far, there may have been some more signs of significant seismic activity going on around the world. However, it could end up becoming relatively quiet at first. There is still a very strong potential something major could occur somewhere in the world at any moment. It could take place today, tomorrow or later next week. At this point, I am going to list the regions I suspect may likely be the next to have a large earthquake at anytime or any day: Indonesia(Halmahera, Molucca Sea region, Talaud Islands, Tanimbar Islands, Seram, Sumatra), East Timor, the Southwest Pacific region(Tonga, Fiji, Kermadec Islands, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands), New Guinea, Papua New Guinea, Philippines(Batan and Babuyan Islands), potentially Yunnan-China, Tajikistan or Aghanistan or Pakistan, Turkey or Azerbaijan, Chile, Peru, Argentina, or Bolivia, Northern Mariana Islands, Kuril Islands, Aleutian Islands..
The place I am particularly watching is the region between Mindanao(Philippines) and New Guinea. The Molucca and Banda Sea region could potentially be the next region to be hit by a powerful earthquake at any time. There has been a  lot of significant and potentially significant activity taking place there most recently. That tight curve where the Indo-Australian Plate collides Northbound with the Sunda Plate, driven in by the Caroline Plate pushing in a Northwesterly direction.
It consists of the Timor, Aru, and Seram Trenches. It could either be that region or the Molucca Sea, the region between Papua New Guinea and Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Of course, there are a number of other candidates for the next large quake. Closer to home, there still may be more magnitude 4 or greater in the Mammoth Lakes area of California or perhaps the Ridgecrest area. The activity here in Southern California has been winding down, but there is a high potential it could spike back up again anytime or day now. It could hold off until this weekend or next week. At the same time, it could suddenly start warming back up again at any time or tomorrow.

Update: April 12, 2020

Just as I suspected, it remained relatively quiet worldwide in terms of significant activity at first. Now, it is showing signs of acting up any moment now. I forecasted that the heaviest of the activity might start up later this weekend or next week. A magnitude 6.1 occurred hours ago near a divergent plate boundary in the Indian Ocean located at 36.9 degrees South, 77.4 degrees East, approximately 59.6 miles North of Amsterdam Island(France). It was in a very remote part of the world.
However, there is a very high chance of a magnitude 7 or greater(or perhaps in the upper magnitude 6s) somewhere in the world at any time or any day this week so far. Regions to watch out for include: Parts of Central Asia(Pakistan, Aghanistan, Northern India or Western China), Western Iran, Azerbaijan region, Turkey, Greece, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Molucca Sea region, Banda Sea region), New Guinea, East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Philippines(Batan and Babuyan Islands), Northern Mariana Islands, Ryukyu Islands(Japan), Hokkaido-Japan, Kuril Islands, Aleutian Islands(Alaska, U.S.A.), Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Chile..
The activity here in Southern California may have died down for now. However, there is a chance it could flare back up again this week or perhaps later on today. There may also still be more going on elsewhere in California. More significant activity could be on the rise in parts of Central or Northern CA within the coming weeks or days so far. I will be providing updates in the days to come whenever I can.

Thursday, April 9, 2020

EQ WATCH: April 9 - 17, 2020

There is now an extremely high chance of magnitude 6 or greater somewhere worldwide. There could even be a magnitude 7 or above imminent somewhere anytime within the next 5-7 days or any moment now. There could be more 6s increasing threefold in parts of the world within the next week or two. There may or may not be any significant EQ activity going on in the world today, but there is a high likelihood of more large EQs within the week ahead so far.
Regions that could potentially be under the gun include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Halmahera, or the Molucca Sea region), the Ceram and Banda Sea regions may also be under the gun, East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Taiwan, Japan(Ryukyu Islands, Kyushu, Honshu, or Hokkaido), Kamchatka Peninsula, Aleutian Islands(e.g. Andreafof and Fox Islands), Central Asia(Xizang - China, Northeastern India, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, or Kyrgyzstan), Turkey or Greece, Chile, Peru, Central America, Tonga, Vanuatu, and possibly New Zealand..
While the activity may have lowered a little here in Southern California, there still may be much more to come within the coming weeks or days. There could be more going on elsewhere in the state such as Central California and/or possibly the Bay area.

Update: April 7, 2020

So far, there has more or less been changes in the activity here and elsewhere in the world. There still may be more going on here in Southern California. I'm still mindful of the seismic activity. If it subsides a little for now, it will likely increase again this weekend or next week. The same goes for more large quakes in parts of the world. It may not act up that much right now, but something big could strike somewhere later this week or next week so far.
The regions to watch out within the coming week or perhaps any day now include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Halmahera, Sulawesi, the Molucca Sea region), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Philippines(Mindanao or Luzon), Northern Mariana Islands, Japan(Ryukyu Islands, Honshu, or Hokkaido), Kuril Islands, the Samoas, Tonga, Kermadec Islands, South Sandwich Islands, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, possibly parts of the Caribbean such as the Westward Islands region, Central America, Andaman Islands, Central Asia(Western China or the Hindu Kush region), Turkey, and/or Greece...
There still may be much more to come in Southern California. There could also be more activity taking place in the Tehachapi Mountains and Ridgecrest area.

Update: April 6, 2020

I am monitoring the activity here in Southern California very closely. I have my guard up now. We could potentially now be entering an active time for the first time in a very long time. The last thing I want to do is alarm people. Nobody can know for sure what is going to happen. At this point, it is starting to become more ominous so far. It would be ideal that something big happens at least after Easter, but we know these things do not discriminate. Again, I'm not implying that a big earthquake, let alone "the big one" is coming today or this week or even next week.
I am just implying that it is a time to be a bit more aware of what could potentially happen especially during the peak of this pandemic. I'm going to adjust my avatars on Twitter where it will not be confusing. I have my alert icon on because there is a higher chance for more significant seismic activity taking place here in Southern California anytime or day now so far. I'm going to put the shape of the state in that avatar so people will know what it means. The one I have up right now is normally used for when the chances of major quakes elsewhere in the world are very high.
There has not been much taking place elsewhere in the world in terms of significant quakes. The chances of more serious earthquakes in the world somewhere at any time are increasing again so far. Within the next week or sooner, there is a high likelihood of major earthquake activity taking place somewhere. Something big could even happen today. At the same time, it could hold off for another week.

Friday, April 3, 2020

EQ WATCH - 4/3/20

A magnitude 4.9 just occurred near the town of Anza here in Southern California at around 6:53 after a long, quiet day. There are signs of even more activity going on. April could potentially be the month for us. We could finally be getting some serious activity down here so far. It was so quiet for a long time. I knew it was becoming ominous after there being only one mag. 3 or greater all last month in this area.
Anytime now, this weekend, or within the next week or two, there may finally be a lot more finally going on here. It is never guaranteed that more significant activity is on the rise, but this region has been due for more significant activity. There is also a high potential for more serious activity in other parts of the world anytime or day now. The Eastern Mediterranean Sea region could be under the gun as well as the Northern Mariana Islands, Indonesia(Bali, Sumatra, or Java), East Timor, Western China, Chile, Peru, and/or Central America.
Right now, I am becoming more concerned at this point about Southern California. We will have to just be prepared in case something bigger does take place anytime or day now.

Thursday, April 2, 2020

EQ WATCH: April 2-8, 2020

There is a high potential for magnitude 6 or greater in the world anytime now or within the next 5-7 days so far. At the same time, there may not be anything serious going on anywhere for right now. However, the chances for magnitude 6 or even 7 or greater within the next week are extremely high so far. Something big could still happen somewhere today. The regions that would be potential candidates for the next large earthquake(s) include: Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Central America, Philippines, Northern Mariana Islands, Japan(Ryukyu Islands, Honshu, or Hokkaido), Aleutian Islands, Gulf of Alaska, coast of British Colombia, Central Asia(parts of China, Afghanistan, Pakistan), Turkey, Greece, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, East Timor, Tonga..
There has not been enough going on here in Southern California lately. It has been very quiet for a long time. There was only one magnitude 3+ South of the Garlock Fault and North of the border last month and it was close to the Mexico border. It was more than 2 weeks ago. Much more activity is expected within the next 2-3 weeks or even sooner. The potential for a more significant event is increasing. There may also be more taking place elsewhere in California and/or other parts of the Western U.S. anytime or day now.
