NEW EQ WATCH: July 31-August 7th, 2020

There is now an extremely high chance of magnitude 6+ worldwide any moment now or any time within the next week so far. Regions that could be at risk include: China(Xizang/Tibet, Sichuan, or Yunnan), Northern India region, Philippines(Mindanao), Northern Mariana Islands, Japan(Hokkaido, Ryukyu Islands, Izu, Bonin, or Volcano Islands), Aleutian Islands(Alaska, U.S.A.), Indonesia(Flores Sea or Banda Sea region), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Kermadec Islands region, South Sandwich Islands region, Chile, Peru...
There may or may not be any serious activity going on in the world for right now, but the chances of magnitude 6 or greater any time now or within the next 7 days are very high at this point. There may also be more seismic activity increasing again in Southern California this weekend or into next week. There may also be more activity heating up in Central California and the Ridgecrest sequence.

July 30, 2020

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred in Southern California, approximately 1 mile North from San Fernando at 4:29 this morning. It occurred in the Sierra Madre Fault Zone, a 34-mile long reverse fault system that was part of the shaping of the San Gabriel and Santa Susanna Mountains. This quake was not far from the sight of the Northridge and Sylmar earthquakes. This region was very much due for a magnitude 4 or larger any time now. There has not been very much going on for a while before this most recent event.
We had it coming and we may yet have even more coming. There also may be more significant earthquake activity on the rise in parts of the world again. There is a very high chance of mag. 6+ somewhere anytime now. Regions that may be of concern include: Central Asia(Myanmar, Himalayas, Western Xizang-China, Northern India, Tajikistan, Afghanistan), Andaman Islands region, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Flores Sea, Banda Sea), Papua New Guinea, East Timor, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, the Samoas, Philippines(Mindanao), Bonin Islands(Japan), Alaska Peninsula, Chile, Peru, South Sandwich Islands region...

Outlook: July 27, 2020

This has been a busy month in terms of serious earthquake activity around the world. At this point, it could be quiet for this week or the rest of the month(5 days left). However, a magnitude 6 or greater somewhere any time now or before this month is over could still occur.
There has been a lot of activity going on in the Andaman Islands region recently. A major earthquake taking place there sometime soon is possible. There has also been some more seismic activity taking place in Northwestern Canada.
More magnitude 3-4+ in Southern California is due any time or day now. There also may be more activity taking place in Central or Northern California. At this point, it is uncertain what else may be going on in the world in terms of earthquakes. There could be some significant volcanic activity going on somewhere.
I will not be here much today to further update on what may be going on.

July 22, 2020

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred off the Alaska Peninsula late last night. It caused no major damage although a tsunami warning was issued. However, it was cancelled. There continues to be a lot going on out there. I was considering on making a new post yesterday. I was turning my alert avatar on and off all day yesterday. I did not want to post anything because there has already been a lot in the world recently.
There still is a high potential for more strong earthquakes out there. Places that could have significant EQ activity anytime now include: Xizang - China, Myanmar, Andaman and Nicobar Islands region, Indonesia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Japan, Kuril Islands, Eastern Mediterranean Sea region, Tonga, Vanuatu, Chile, Peru, or Central America..
There once again should also be more activity going on in Southern California any time or day now. There is due to be mag. 4+ in the region within the next week or two. More significant activity is due within weeks or perhaps days at this point. There may also be more activity taking place in Central and/or Northern California. More mag. 3 or 4+ aftershocks may occur in Nevada or the Lone Pine or Mammoth Lakes area of California.

Update: July 17, 2020

Hours ago, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurred in Eastern Papua New Guinea. It was near the Morobe Patrol Post. There were no immediate reports of damage or deaths or major damage. A tsunami alert was subsequently issued. The hypocenter was about 50 miles deep. There may still be a high potential for more significant earthquake activity going on in the world somewhere.
Other regions of possible concern include: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands region, Myanmar, Indonesia, Philippines, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Central America, Japan, the Kuril Islands, the coast of Southern Alaska or the Aleutian Islands.. There has still been more activity warming up in Southern California so far. The potential for magnitude 4+ within the next 5-7 days is very high. There may be much more to come.
There could also potentially be more heating up elsewhere in CA anytime or day now.

Update: July 15, 2020

So far, many moderate sized earthquakes have occurred over the last few days. The biggest so far was a magnitude 5.7 in the Flores Sea region yesterday. The activity seemed to wind back down today. However, the potential for large quakes somewhere anytime now or by the 20th is still extremely high. Regions that could be hit include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, the Banda Sea region), Philippines(Mindanao, Luzon, or Babuyan Islands region), Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Northern Mariana Islands, Japan, Andaman Islands, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Chile, Bolivia, or Peru, Central America, Aleutian Islands..
As for Southern California, there should be a lot more going on by this weekend. There is a strong chance of mag. 3-4+ anytime now. It should be getting more and more active here soon. There may also be more activity(aftershocks) in Idaho anytime or day now.

Update: July 7, 2020

Shortly after yesterday's report in this blog, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake occurred in the Java Sea of Indonesia. The quake was too deep to cause significant damage or injuries. There is still a lot potentially going on in the world so far. Places that should be watched include: Central America(Panama, Nicaragua, Southern Mexico), Central Asia(Pakistan, Hindu Kush region, or Xizang-China), Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, or Banda Sea), Northern Mariana Islands, Kuril Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, or the Eastern Mediterranean Sea region..
More seismic activity is increasing in Southern California again. Yesterday evening, a magnitude 3.2 occurred near Borrego Springs at 7:34. It was very quiet earlier this morning, but it is heating back up again so far. There may also be more activity going on in Central and/or Northern California.

Update: July 6, 2020

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake occurred 157 miles North of Fais, Micronesia. More dangerous earthquake activity may be underway. A magnitude 5.6 then occurred in the Izu Islands region(Japan). There is also a chance an even stronger earthquake could occur in either of those areas. The Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and further North where the Bonin Islands are may be under the gun.
Other regions to watch include: the Kuril Islands, Aleutian Islands, Japan(Hokkaido or Honshu), Philippines, Indonesia, Afghanistan or Pakistan, Iran, Tonga, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Kermadec Islands, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Central America...
The activity has seemed to stop in Southern California this morning, but there is a high likelihood it could increase any time or day now where a very high potential for magnitude 4 or greater.

Update: July 4, 2020

So far, some more moderate earthquake activity has increased in parts of the world over the past day. The largest in the last 24 hours was a magnitude 5.6 in the Solomon Islands region. There is still a very high potential for more large earthquakes in the world somewhere. Areas that may be under the gun include: Chile, Bolivia, Central America, possibly the Caribbean(Puerto Rico), Tonga, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia(Banda Sea, Flores Sea, Java, Sumatra), Andaman Islands region, Tajikistan, Western China, Pakistan, Iran-Irag, the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, Japan(Honshu), Northern Mariana Islands, Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, Batan Islands...
I don't want anyone to make the mistake that I'm implying that it might act up everywhere at once. One or several of these regions are potential candidates for the next round of significant seismic activity. A magnitude 3.5 hit the Mammoth Lakes area just now. There could possibly be something more significant taking place up there. There has been more seismic activity increasing in Southern California, but there is not that much going on here.
There is due to be magnitude 4 or greater any time or day now. It could be into the week if it does not increase more now or tomorrow. There is a lot of activity taking place in California and parts of the West so far.

NEW EQ WATCH: July 3-12, 2020

The potential for more magnitude 6 or greater in the world has now spiked again. There is a very high chance of more large earthquakes in parts of the world anytime now to within the next week so far. At the same time it could become quiet again for now and not act up until next week. The regions to watch out for include: Myanmar, Central Asia(somewhere from Western China, through Northern India, Tajikistan to Pakistan or Iran), Azerbaijan region, Turkey/Eastern Mediterranean Sea region, Andaman Islands, Indonesia(Banda Sea, Ceram Sea, Barat Daya Islands, Flores Sea region, Java), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Northern Mariana Islands, Philippines(Batan and Babuyan Islands), Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, Japan(Honshu), Kuril Islands, Aleutian Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Chile or Argentina, Bolivia..
There is now a growing concern more significant activity may be taking place in Southern California any time now. It may have not been that active lately, but there is due to be a lot more going on anytime or day now. There may be more activity taking place elsewhere in California. There has also been more activity occurring in Southern Alaska. While there may very well be more serious earthquake and/or volcanic activity going on in the world any time now, it could also become quiet again for now at the same time.
