EQ Watch: 6/30-4/7/21

It has been generally quiet in the world for quite some time. June was an incredibly uneventful month in terms of significant earthquakes in the world. There may or may not finally be more going on yet, but there may be a lot of strong earthquake activity imminent within the week ahead. There could even be a particularly large event getting ready to take place somewhere out there. There may likely be a magnitude 6 or greater within the next 5 days. It could even be today. Regions to watch would include: Central America and/or possibly parts of the Caribbean region, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Fiji region, Vanuatu, Tonga, Indonesia(Banda and Molucca Sea region, Java, or Sumatra), Philippines(Mindanao), East Timor, Japan, Aleutian Islands, Afghanistan, or Pakistan.. I'm also just starting to pay attention to the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. There may possibly be something going on there. There has been some more seismic activity occurring across parts of the U.S. There could be more mag. 3+ taking place in parts of California this week or Nevada or other areas of the Western United States. There may also be more seismic activity occurring in the Central and Eastern U.S. in the coming days or weeks. Again, there is an extremely high chance of mag. 6+ in the world any time or day now. While it is remaining generally quiet right now, there may likely be a lot coming up within the week.

Outlook: 6/22/21

There was some more significant earthquake activity going on in the world over the past 3 days, but it has overall been a quiet month. There is not much going on out there now. It may stay quiet all day or even over the next 2 days at this point. There may likely be a lot going on by July. There still could be more significant earthquake activity going on in the world before the end of the month. A magnitude 7 or greater within the next 5 days cannot be ruled out. If it stays quiet this week, then there should be a lot going on either by the end of the month or early July. Regions like the Southwestern Pacific Ring of Fire, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan(Hokkaido), and Central America would be potential candidates for the next round of strong earthquake activity. Pakistan and Southern Greece have also been showing signs of becoming more active recently. There have been more small earthquakes occurring in parts of the Central and Eastern United States lately. There has also been more activity occurring in the Interior West such as in Idaho and the Yellowstone area. There may also possibly be more going on in the Pacific Northwest.

Update: 6/21/21

Yesterday, a magnitude 6.7 occurred in the Kermadec Islands region. There was no tsunami threat. A magnitude 6.0 occurred this morning as an aftershock. There could still be more significant earthquake activity on the rise any time now this week. There could be a magnitude 7 or greater looming somewhere out there any time now. At this point, there may be a lot going on this week or by the end of this month. Other areas to watch may include: Central America, Tonga, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Japan(Hokkaido), Ryukyu Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Indonesia, Pakistan, Western Turkey or Southern Greece, the Leeward Islands region..

Update: 6/19/21

A magnitude 5.8 occurred in the Fiji region earlier. However, there continues to be not much else going on out there so far. There are moderate levels of earthquake activity in the world. At this point, it still may hold out into next week with the next mag. 6 or larger somewhere. The last mag. 6+ quake in the world was almost 3 weeks ago. May was quite an active month, so this may be a relatively quiet month. There may not be a big outbreak this month. It may be thinly distributed where a significant event or two occurs within 2 weeks instead of a bunch within several days or a week. At the same time, there could be a lot of activity going on by this coming week. It could even become active today or tomorrow. At this point, it may also remain mostly quiet out there for now.

Updated EQ Watch: 6/17-24/21

There may just now be more significant EQ activity on the rise in the world. There may or may not be a magnitude 6 or greater happening anywhere yet, but it is likely within the week ahead. It could happen today, tomorrow, or within the next 5 days. Places to watch out for may include: Indonesia(the Banda and Molucca Sea region, Java, or Sumatra), Myanmar, Northern India, Pakistan, possibly the Eastern Mediterranean Sea region, Tonga, Fiji, the Kermadec Islands, Central America, Ecuador, Colombia, or Chile.. Again, there may or may not be a lot happening just yet, but there may likely be a lot more taking place within the next 5-7 days or sooner at this point. There could be some more seismic activity occurring across parts of the United States as there has been. The activity in Southern California has been winding down. There could still be more taking place in other parts of the Western U.S.

Update: 6/16/21

So far, there has been a more significant earthquake out there - Magnitude 5.8 70 km ESE of Amahai, Indonesia. However, this could be drawn out into next week instead of a lot taking place within a 3-5 day period at this rate. There could be a magnitude 7+ within the next week somewhere. As of right now, there has not been that much going on lately. Again, a large earthquake taking place somewhere in the world today cannot be ruled out. It just may also drag over the course of a week at this point. It can also still change very swiftly.

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred 78 miles from Tidore Kepulauan City, North Maluku, Indonesia earlier. There is still a lot of activity taking place out there. There has also been more activity taking place in the Central United States such as Texas and Oklahoma. There has also been some activity in Central and Northern California. There could still be more activity occurring in parts of California and across other parts of the U.S. That being said, there could still be more significant earthquake activity occurring elsewhere in the world somewhere any time now.
