January 17 - 25, 2020

The chances of mag. 6-7+ earthquakes somewhere worldwide anytime or day now are extremely high again so far. A major earthquake is due somewhere at any moment or any time within the next week. Regions of the world that are or may be potential candidates for the next big earthquake include: Central America(including Southwestern Mexico), Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, South Sandwich Islands region, possibly New Zealand's North Island or the Kermadec Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Philippines(Mindanao or Luzon), Northern Mariana Islands, Japan, Kamchatka Peninsula, Aleutian Islands, East Timor, Indonesia(Molucca Sea region, Halmahera, Java, Sumatra), Central Asia(Western parts of China, Tajikistan region, Afghanistan, or Pakistan), Iran, Turkey, Greece, and/or the Puerto Rico region..
I will try to narrow it down to which places may likely be at the most risk. Many of the listed places are regions that are always active. I in fact list those regions every time. The regions that may be of a particularly high concern would include the Molucca Sea region, Central Asia, Central America, Japan, the Aleutian Islands, and Chile. However, somewhere else may be it. So far, there is a very high chance for more activity here in Southern California this weekend or on into next week. More magnitude 4+ could be imminent here any day as well as other parts of California such as the Little Lake area, Central California, Mammoth Lakes, and Northernmost California. There may also be more activity occurring elsewhere in the Western U.S. and Alaska within the next week or anytime now. A magnitude 4 occurred in Utah last night. There could also be some more activity going on there or other areas of the West such as Montana, Idaho, the Yellowstone area, or Nevada.

Update: January 10, 2020

The chances of major earthquake activity worldwide have now escalated to where there is a high likelihood of one happening somewhere within the next 5-7 days so far. A magnitude 7 or greater is now of an extreme chance in the world sometime within the week ahead. Regions that may be candidates include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Halmahera, Molucca Sea region), East Timor, Philippines(Mindanao, Luzon), Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Northern Mariana Islands, Japan(Ryukyu Islands, Honshu, or Hokkaido), Kuril Islands, Kamchatka Peninsula, Aleutian Islands, Andaman Islands(Port Blair region, India), Central Asia(Pakistan, Iran), Greece, Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico region(possibly), Peru, Chile, Argentina, and/or the South Sandwich Islands region..
As for Southern California, the potential for magnitude 3 or greater anytime now is dragging again for now. There still may be more going on within the week, but right now, it could be remaining relatively quiet all day. It could still change at any time. There is still due to be a lot more going on here very soon.

NEW EQ WATCH: January 9 - 17, 2020

There is just now an extremely high chance of major earthquake activity somewhere in the world any moment now or within the week ahead so far. I will be providing updates along the way. Nothing is set in stone. It could also become very quiet, but as of now, there is a strong chance of more dangerous activity going on somewhere out there at any time or within the next 5-7 days at this point. Regions to be watched include: Indonesia(Molucca Sea region, Halmahera, Java, Sumatra), Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Fiji, Kermadec Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Taiwan, Japan(Honshu, Hokkaido, Izu Islands, Ryukyu Islands), Kuril Islands, Kamchatka Peninsula, Aleutian Islands, Central Asia(Western China, Kyrgyzstan Tajikistan, or Pakistan), Iran, Greece, Chile, South Sandwich Islands, Peru, Central America, and/or the Caribbean region.
The chances of magnitude 3 or greater in Southern California anytime now, this weekend, or on into next week are very high so far. There may also be more activity taking place in other parts of California and Nevada anytime now or within the week as well. As far as the rest of the world goes, there may currently be a very high chance for more large earthquakes somewhere, but at the same time, it could end up becoming quiet again until this next week. I will be making updates throughout the day on Twitter:

January 9, 2019

It has been an active week in terms of significant earthquake activity around the world. There were not any magnitude 7 or greater events, but there were several 6s. There was a mag. 6.4 in Puerto Rico that did considerable damage and killed one person early on Tuesday. I'm still showing concern for the Caribbean region. There has been more activity taking place there than usual and it is not just the Puerto Rico area.

While it could be relatively quiet for now, there is still a potential for more big earthquakes worldwide this weekend or next week. Another powerful quake could still happen anytime today. I upgraded my format and icon this morning. I want to try to use the red tinted icon on Twitter sparingly - For when the chances for major earthquakes somewhere in the world at any moment are extreme.
There is another one where it is a scarlet silhouette that I would switch on whenever there is or may be significant earthquake activity going on here in Southern California or in a neighboring area.

At this point, it is relatively calm for now. I may post a new update today if it changes to where there is a lot more going on again. It may be next week or 2 weeks from now when major quake activity occurs somewhere. It could also delay to next month.

Update: January 3, 2020

It turns out that today is the intensely quiet period before the heavily active period that is expected at least by the middle of the month at this point. This period of very little significant seismic activity in the world could last through this weekend or it could suddenly end at any moment. When it finally does act up, regions that may be under the gun include: Central America, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, Indonesia(Talaud Islands, Halmahera, Java, Sumatra), Philippines, Northern Mariana Islands, Japan(Ryukyu Islands, Honshu, Hokkaido), Kuril Islands, Kamchatka Peninsula, Aleutian Islands, the coast of British Columbia, parts of Central Asia such as Xizang and/or Xinjiang, China, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Iran, and/or Greece.
At this point, there may be hardly anything worth talking about going on anywhere for right now. It could continue like this into next week or a large earthquake could suddenly occur somewhere at any moment. There still may be more activity taking place in Southern and Central California(more mag. 3-4+). It may or may not act up now or perhaps tomorrow, but there is still due to be much more coming up.
