NEW EQ WATCH: 11/29-12/6/20

The potential for major earthquake activity worldwide anytime or day now within the week ahead is extremely high now. There are signs of more strong quake activity occurring in parts of the world after it being so quiet all day yesterday. The regions that could be potential candidates for the next mag. 6+ include: Argentina, Chile, Peru, New Zealand, Tonga, Loyalty Islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia(Sumatra, Sulawesi, or Halmahera), Philippines(Mindanao or Luzon), Kuril Islands, Japan(Honshu or Hokkaido), Aleutian Islands, parts of Central Asia(Western China, Northern India, or Myanmar), or possibly Iran.. There may also be more activity taking place throughout California including Southern California and Northern California. There is again, due to be magnitude 4+ in Southern California anytime or day now. It should not be staying quiet here that much longer. There is likely a lot to come within the week. Again, there is now a very high chance of a large earthquake or two occurring somewhere in the world anytime now or any day within the week ahead so far.

Outlook: November 24, 2020

This has probably been the most uneventful month this year. There seems to have been only one magnitude 6 or larger earthquake in the world all month and there has not been a magnitude 4 quake in Southern CA in over a month. It has been too quiet for too long. It could possibly change dramatically today or tomorrow, but it could be another day of relatively low activity. It might be much more active next month. We are nearing the end of this month. There is still a fairly decent chance more significant activity could start increasing in the world today and/or more activity increases in Southern California. However, right now, it looks quite underwhelming. There is still a high potential a lot could start taking place this week. However, I will not be surprised if it remains relatively quiet everywhere throughout the rest of the week.

Update: November 22, 2020

Late yesterday, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred off the Northwest coast of Maule, Chile. Some more significant earthquake activity was occurring elsewhere in the world earlier including a magnitude 5.5 offshore of the Ibaraki Prefecture of Japan(Honshu). There has not been very much going on after that so far. However, there is still due to be more heavy activity occurring worldwide this week. If it becomes quiet again for now, then there may be more serious activity occurring later this week or within 2-3 days. There was more seismic activity warming up in Southern California, but still nothing explosive and it may be becoming quiet again for right now. However, a magnitude 3-4 or higher tonight or tomorrow is definitely not out of the question here. There is in fact a very strong chance for that this week. There may also be more taking place in Central and/or Northern California any time now.

Updated EQ Watch: 11/21-27/20

There has been some more seismic activity increasing in parts of the world today. A magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred in Chile late yesterday. There is an extremely high potential for a major earthquake somewhere out there any time now or any day within the week ahead. Regions that could be of potential concern include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Sulawesi), Philippines(Luzon or Mindanao), Papua New Guinea, Japan(Hokkaido), parts of Central Asia(Western China, Myanmar, Pakistan, or Afghanistan), Solomon Islands, Loyalty Islands, Vanuatu, possibly New Zealand, Chile, or Argentina... There has also been some more seismic activity warming up in Southern California today. There still is due to be magnitude 4 or greater here any time or day now. There is again, a very high chance of large earthquake activity in the world any time or day now. It may not be that active out there right now, but more mag. 6+ within the next 2-3 days are highly likely.

New EQ Watch: November 20-27, 2020

There is a very high chance of more powerful earthquake activity taking place worldwide within the coming week. Right now, it is very quiet out there in the world. It could remain very quiet over the next 2 days before it acts up or it could increase overnight with the chance of a large quake somewhere. There could be a very large earthquake on the horizon somewhere any day now. Regions that may be under the gun would include: the Philippines(Luzon, Babuyan Islands, Batan Islands, or Mindanao), the Northern Mariana Islands, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi), Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Ryukyu Islands, possibly Taiwan, Japan(Hokkaido), Vanuatu, Tonga, Peru, Colombia, or Central America.. Again, there may be little going on for now, but within the next 5-7 days, the chances of more large earthquake activity somewhere out there are extremely high. There are also more signs of activity heating up in Southern California once more. More magnitude 4+ are highly likely within the week ahead. There is due to be a lot more going on at least any day now.

Update: 11/17/20

There is now more activity heating up in Southern California. A magnitude 3.5 occurred near Morongo Valley at 11:19 last night. There may be a lot going on today or this week so far. It was so quiet all week last week that there must be more magnitude 4 or larger within the next week. A more significant event any day now is possible. Although it could also end up falling flat again today at the same time, there definitely must be much more to come within the coming weeks. There has also been some more significant earthquake activity taking place elsewhere in the world. A magnitude 5.8 occurred off the West coast of Sumatra, Indonesia yesterday(Pacific Time). There is still a very high chance of strong earthquake activity occurring somewhere. Places to watch out for would include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Molucca Sea region, or Banda Sea region), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Northern Mariana Islands, Ryukyu Islands, parts of Central Asia(Pakistan, Tajikistan region, Xizang, or Myanmar), Andaman Islands region, Peru, Chile, Argentina, or Central America..

Update: 11/16/20

A magnitude 6.1 occurred in the Mindanao region of the Philippines yesterday. There is still due to be a lot taking place in the world anytime or day now. However, it could be quiet before it starts acting up. There is due to be more significant to potentially major earthquake activity taking place in the world this week. Places that may be active would include: Japan(Hokkaido, Honshu, Ryukyu Islands), Taiwan, Central Asia(Pakistan, Xizang, or Myanmar region), Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Banda or Molucca Sea region), Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Vanuatu, Central America, Chile, Peru, or Ecuador.. There has finally been some more activity taking place in Southern California. A magnitude 3.5 occurred in the Loma Linda area overnight - Which happens to be where I work. There may be much more to come. It could be today, tomorrow or later this week. It has been quiet for too long. There may also be more seismic activity occurring elsewhere in California and the Western U.S.

Update: 11/15/20

There has been more moderate earthquakes taking place out there in the world. However, there may or may not be any large events today. It could become quiet at first. Yet, a magnitude 6 or greater may occur somewhere any time now. There is at least a very high likelihood of magnitude 6 or greater this week. Regions that could be impacted may include: the Ryukyu Islands region, Taiwan, Japan(Hokkaido or Honshu), Kuril Islands, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Vanuatu, Balleny Islands region, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Banda Sea region), Andaman Islands, Central Asia(such as Myanmar or Pakistan), Central America, Peru.. There has not been enough activity going on in Southern California lately and it is due for much more anytime or day now. There may also be more activity going on in Central California. There has also been some more seismic activity occurring across the United States. There is once again an extremely high potential for strong earthquake activity in the world any time now. If it does not happen today, a strong earthquake is at least likely within the next 5 days at this point so far.

EQ WATCH: November 14-18, 2020

There is so far more significant activity on the rise in parts of the world. There is a very high chance of magnitude 6 or greater or potentially even magnitude 7+ somewhere out there within the next several days at this point. Regions that could be under the gun would include: parts of Central Asia such as Pakistan or Myanmar, the Andaman Islands region, Indonesia(Sumatra, Sulawesi, Banda Sea region), East Timor, Tonga, Vanuatu, possibly New Zealand, Taiwan, Ryukyu or Volcano Islands(Japan), Central America, Chile, Peru, Aleutian Islands(Alaska, USA).. The activity in Southern California spiked yesterday, but then suddenly discontinued overnight where there has not been anything going on for hours. There is a very high chance it could increase later on today. We are due for magnitude 4+ events any day now. It has been an extremely uneventful week and it should not stay like this much longer. The aftershock sequence in Nevada has flared up significantly and there continues to be more going on there. It seems like it is acting up everywhere else but here right now. However, it should not be long before it is our turn. There is again, an extremely high potential for large earthquake activity in the world anytime now so far. I will provide updates.

Update: November 3, 2020

There may have not been numerous moderate quakes around the world, but a magnitude 6.0 struck off the coast of Aisen, Chile yesterday evening. There was also a magnitude 5.7 in the Tonga region overnight(Pacific Standard Time). There still may be more significant EQ activity taking place out there. The Pacific Northwest coast or the Gulf of Alaska may have something going on. Of course, it is uncertain. The sequence near Perryville, Alaska could start flaring up again, becoming more active or the Aleutian Islands could become active at any time. Other areas of possible concern may include: Central Asia(Western China, Tajikistan region), Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Banda Sea region), East Timor, Vanuatu, Tonga, Central America or Mexico, Japan(Hokkaido)... At the same time, that could be it for now. There has been signs of more activity heating up in Southern California overnight and this morning. A magnitude 4 or greater is of an increased potential any time or day now once again. These quiet periods have not been lasting very long. There would be a surge in mag. 3+ following days of hardly anything going on recently.
