Report: 7/12/22


A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the Easter Island region about 2 hours ago. There has been no threat of a tsunami and it happened in a remote part of the world. There still may be more large earthquake activity looming elsewhere in the world. A magnitude 5.2 struck in the Labrador Sea earlier(Newfoundland, Canada region). It was an intraplate event which does not happen very often. There is some more seismic activity warming up in the Western U.S. There may also be more activity going on in Alaska. Other areas in the world that could be candidates for the next strong earthquake may include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Banda Sea region), Papua New Guinea, the Samoas, Tonga, Vanuatu, Philippines...
