Report: 4.24.23

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck the Kermadec Islands of New Zealand earlier. There was no threat of a tsunami. The earthquake had a depth of 10 km(6.21 miles). It was initially reported as magnitude 7.3 by the USGS but was later downgraded to magnitude 7.1. It also initially reported twins where another earthquake of the same magnitude was reported just seconds later, but was later retracted. So far, there were no casualties reported. This region gets hit a lot. Just about a month ago, the same region was hit by a magnitude 7.1 and not long before that a magnitude 6.9. There is still more going on elsewhere including Indonesia, parts of Central Asia, the Bonin Islands region(Japan), and the South Sandwich Islands.
