Just as I was getting tired of waiting, a magnitude 7.0 struck Papua New Guinea. It happened less than an hour ago. The earthquake had a focal depth of 80 km(49.71 miles; roughly 50 miles). No tsunami was expected after the earthquake. There have also been no immediate reports of damage or injuries so far. It was falling quiet earlier today. However, even though there are not elevated levels of activity taking place worldwide, that does not rule out the potential for a strong to major earthquake happening somewhere.
