A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Southern Iran a few hours ago. It had a depth of 15 kilometers. Local news reported that rescue teams were dispatched to the affected area. So far, no casualties have been reported. Overnight(local time), a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck the North Island of New Zealand which frightened residents. There was also a magnitude 5.3 in Alberta, Canada. There are still increased levels of moderate earthquake activity worldwide. The potential for a strong earthquake somewhere is still very high.
