Report: 10/1/22

I'm sorry if this is a little late. There was a problem earlier today. Hours ago, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck southern Kyushu, Japan. The quake was 40 km deep. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the earthquake's epicenter was located off the east coast of the Osumi peninsula. In one location, there was a Shindo rating of -5 was reported while surrounding areas ranked it at 4. Japan is a very seismically active country. It sits atop 3 tectonic plates - the North America Plate, the Eurasia Plate, and a small area on the Philippine Plate(Shizuoka Prefecture). There still are increased levels in activity worldwide. A magnitude 6.0 struck the Reykjanes Ridge earlier.
