So far, it is not very active in the world right now. At the same time, it could still become extremely active this week, but it may also remain quiet for now. There is at least a high potential for more magnitude 6+ in the world within the next week or two. It feels unstable out there right now, so as much as there may not be a surge in seismic activity until this weekend or next week, there could suddenly be a lot taking place somewhere out there. However, it could fall very quiet and then start becoming more active as the end of the month approaches. Right now, there is no telling for sure what might happen or how big it will be. It at least feels like it might be a drawn out set of events instead of one big outbreak that lasts about 2-3 days. Southern Alaska or the Aleutian Islands may be a candidate for the next large earthquake in the world. Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands region, Turkey, and Indonesia would also be other places that have been more active recently. There has also been more activity flaring up in the Japan region. On a smaller scale, more small earthquakes have been occurring in the central and eastern U.S. this week.
