Report: 10/9/22

A magnitude 6.2 struck the Mid-Atlantic Ridge earlier. There has not been that much going on elsewhere, but the potential for more strong earthquake activity in the world this week is increasing so far. I almost considered cancelling the watch, but I gave it more time. At this point, there may not be a big outbreak of significant earthquake activity throughout parts of the world, but it feels like there could be a couple of sizeable quakes out there over an extended period. At the same time, there may be a lot going on this week. At least that is what it feels like just now. Parts of the world to watch out for would include: Greece, Iran, Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Kuril Islands, Kamchatka Peninsula, Aleutian Islands or Southern Alaska, Tonga, Fiji region... Meanwhile, a couple of small earthquakes occurred in Eastern TN overnight and today. A magnitude 2.2 struck 9 km SE of the town of Palmer. It occurred in the middle of the night. Later, there was a magnitude 2.5 near Knoxville at 12:31 today.
