Report: 2.15.23

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck the Masbate Island province in the Central Philippines a short while ago. It was shortly after 2:00 a.m. local time. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries and no tsunami warning was issued. The earthquake was 20 km deep. There continues to be a very high chance for more serious activity in the world. I would still watch that region most recently hit in case something bigger happens later. Again, other places of possible concern are New Zealand, Tonga, the Kuril Islands, Kamchatka Peninsula, Central America, western China, Chile(Atacama to the Tarapaca region), and/or the Aleutian Islands.
