New EQ Watch: 4/29-5/5/21

More significant earthquake activity has continued in parts of the world. The biggest one that happened yesterday was a magnitude 5.9 in the Kermadec Islands. As I speculated before, there has been some activity taking place off the Pacific Northwest Coast. A magnitude 5.4 occurred off the coast of Oregon early this morning. There have been many aftershocks. There is now a very high potential for mag. 6-7 or greater in the world anytime now within the next 5-6 days at this point. There is a very high potential for a major earthquake in the world any time or any day now so far. Regions that may be under the gun would include: Northern India, the Andaman Islands region, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Banda Sea region), Papua New Guinea, the Batan and Babuyan Islands region(Philippines), Ryukyu Islands(Japan), possibly Taiwan, the Northern Mariana Islands region, Tonga, Fiji, Kermadec Islands, Vanuatu, Chile.. There is a possibility of a larger event taking place off the Pacific Northwest coast and that earthquake this morning potentially being a foreshock. At the same time, it may not happen at all, but it is better to keep your guard up in case a large event does occur. There still may be some more seismic activity occurring in Southern California or other parts of the state such as the Bay area. There may also be more activity occurring in other parts of the Western U.S. such as Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. There could also potentially be some activity taking place in other parts of the U.S. Again, the chances of a major earthquake in the world within the week ahead are very high so far.
