Report: 5.26.23

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the east coast of Honshu, Japan. No tsunami warning was issued, according to public broadcaster NHK. It shook buildings in Tokyo as well as surrounding prefectures. There were no immediate reports of serious damage. The epicenter was near Chiba Prefecture, to the east of Tokyo at a depth of 50 km. It could still be active out there. Otherwise, the next watch may be scheduled after the end of this month. It may not be long before the next surge in activity and perhaps there will be a longer break after that.
