EQ Watch: 6/16-25/22

There has been some instability lately. At first, it did not feel like much was going on all week, but just over the past 2-3 hours, it was beginning to shift. There may or may not be a strong earthquake today or this weekend, but it is highly likely within the next week. It could act up today or tomorrow, but there should be a lot going on by the 23rd to 25th at the latest. When I make these posts, it does not necessarily mean it is immediately active out there. While oftentimes it is that way, there are times like today where it feels unstable - It could suddenly become very active somewhere even though it has been somewhat quiet. It has been like a slow developing where it would start to increase in activity, but then it would die back down again. These are the kinds of watches that are set longer. Regions to watch out for would include: Japan(the Ryuku, Volcano Islands, the Katsuura Basin area, and even Japan proper), Philippines(Luzon), Indonesia(Banda Sea region), Papua New Guinea, Central America, Iran, and/or Central Asia(Hindu Kush region to Western China or Myanmar).. So far, there has been some questionable activity going on in and around Japan today. There may not necessarily be something major going on there imminently, but it is a place to keep an eye on as it is so active. There is also more seismic activity increasing in the Western U.S. such  as Nevada and California. There is some more seismic activity flaring up in Southern California today. There are also some signs of more activity taking place in the Central U.S. There has been hardly anything going on anywhere east of Oklahoma this past week, but that might change any time or day now. A small magnitude 2.5 struck eastern Illinois at 7:14 this morning(northeast of the town of Fairfield). In terms of more serious activity, Central America was included in those potential areas of interest. The area in particular is more on the western side - Honduras, Belize, or the Caribbean. A magnitude 5.0 just struck the Cayman Islands.
