Not long after my previous post a magnitude 8.1 occurred in the Kermadic Islands region, triggering a new tsunami threat. No serious damage or deaths have been reported. Moderate to strong aftershocks are occurring constantly. There is still a chance of more significant activity in other parts of the world. The activity in Southern California is extremely low right now. It could remain like this all day or it could pick back up again at any time. I'm having to move out of state today, so I will not really be here to thoroughly keep up with what all is or may be going on. There has been more activity occurring elsewhere across the country. A magnitude 3.9 occurred in Oklahoma overnight. I will be on the road within the next 6 hours so I will not be able to make a new post for the next day or two unless we happen to stop in at a hotel where I can get online. In the meantime, I will keep up via Twitter with whatever is happening:
