A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck the Loyalty Islands region on Thursday, triggering tsunami warnings in the region that were later cancelled, with no immediate reports of damage. The quake's epicenter was 258 miles east of Tadine, a town in the French Territory of New Caledonia. It had a depth of 6.2 miles. Numerous aftershocks continue to take place. There is still a high potential for more strong earthquakes in the world anytime or day now. There may still be more activity increasing again in Southern California any time now as well as Central and Northern California.
