Update: Dec. 25, 2020
There continues to be a high chance of large earthquakes worldwide anytime or day now. A magnitude 6.3 occurred in the Philippines yesterday, but it was not strong enough to generate a tsunami. There were no immediate reports of damage from said quake. There is still a very high chance for major earthquake activity worldwide any time now. There is an extremely high chance of more strong EQ activity within the next 5 days. More mag. 6 or greater is highly likely anytime now to the 27th-30th at this point. Those dates may be where the global activity is at its peak. However, a lot may take place today. There is also more activity heating up in Southern California so far. A magnitude 4 or greater is of an extremely high chance any time or day now. I will be posting updates via Twitter whenever I have a chance.

Forecast: Dec. 24 - 31, 2020
So far, there has been more or less going on in terms of significant activity around the world. A magnitude 5.9 struck the Palau region yesterday. There has yet to be much more going on out there in the world. There is a very high chance of magnitude 6 or greater today and this week. If it stays relatively quiet all day, then a lot more is expected within the next week with a strong chance of a magnitude 7 or greater somewhere by New Year's at this point. The last major earthquake(magnitude 7+) happened at the end of October and there is on average one magnitude 7 per month and we have skipped a few months this year. There is on average one magnitude 8 per year worldwide and there has still not been a great earthquake anywhere yet this year. 2020 could very well finish off with a lot of serious earthquake activity worldwide. At this point, if it does not become active today or tomorrow, then it may likely act up by the 26th, 27-30th somewhere at this point. Regions that could be under the gun would include: Palau, Papua New Guinea, Northern Mariana Islands, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, the Banda Sea region, or Halmahera), Philippines(Mindanao or Luzon), Myanmar, Afghanistan or Pakistan, Iran or Turkey, Greece, Italy(Sicily region), Tonga, Fiji, Chile, Peru, Central America, Aleutian Islands or Southern Alaska.. There may now be new concerns of it becoming more active all over California and Nevada. This whole region may be heading into an active period. There have slowly, yet surely been more earthquakes occurring over the past year. It could possibly become active near Sacramento and work on down through Central California into Southern California. This could take place within a course of weeks to months. Something more significant could possibly be upon us much sooner, like any day now. Nothing is guaranteed. I will be updating as we go along. I will be on Twitter.

Outlook for Southern California: Dec. 2020
There may have been more signs of it becoming more active out here over the past several days, however, there is currently nothing going on here right now. There was a magnitude 2.6 near Ridgecrest about an hour ago, but there has not been any signs of movement from the Tehachapi Mountains to the Salton Sea for over 2 hours. It looks less than impressive here right now. There is a chance it could heat up later today with more magnitude 3-4+ on the rise, however, I will not be surprised if it stays quiet. There is likely to be a lot more going on by New Year's here. There is still a higher potential for something more significant within the next 2 weeks. There still could be much more going on by tomorrow, this weekend, or perhaps later today. At this point, it may be another 2-3 hours before more activity starts warming up as of 5:48 this morning. Again, I will not be surprised if there is little going on all morning or even all day. There is again due to be mag. 4+ out here at least any day now. Things are tight at my job now as we are in the midst of a major COVID-19 outbreak, but I will provide updates via Twitter on the activity whenever I have a chance if there is more going on.

EQ Watch: 12/20-26/20
Wednesday, December 16, 2020
Update: 12/16/20
Yesterday, a magnitude 6.1 struck just off the Southern coast of Mindanao in the Philippines. There were no immediate reports of injuries or deaths. There continues to be heightened levels of activity in the world. There is still a very high potential for a larger earthquake somewhere out there. Places like Central America, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Kepulauan Babar region, or Tanimbar Islands), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Fiji, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Central America, Japan, the Northern Mariana Islands, and/or the Aleutian Islands are potential candidates for the next strong earthquake. Closer to home, the activity in Southern California went back down again overnight. However, there may be some more warming up again just now. It has not been active enough here lately and there is due to be a lot more going on at least any day now. There may also be more taking place up near Ridgecrest as well as other areas of California.
Tuesday, December 15, 2020
New EQ Watch: 12/15-22, 2020
The potential for more serious earthquake activity in the world is extremely high again so far. If it does not act up significantly anywhere today, there is likely to be a strong earthquake or two within the next 5-7 days. There is even due to be a magnitude 7 or greater somewhere. Regions to watch may include: Central America, possibly the Caribbean or Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand(North or South Island), Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Philippines(Luzon), Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Sulewesi, or the Tanimbar Islands region), East Timor, Northern Mariana Islands, Eastern Turkey, Northern Iran, Japan, Southern Alaska or the Gulf of Alaska region.. There has been more activity occurring in the Western United States. There may also be more taking place in California. Southern California is due for mag. 4+ quakes and there may be more activity occurring in Central and/or Northern California.
Monday, December 14, 2020
Outlook: Dec. 14, 2020
There continues to be little going on in Southern California. There were signs of more activity heating up last night, but it went completely quiet again. The count has remained below 30 since yesterday. It could still act up today, but at the same time I will not be surprised if there continues to be nothing happening out here all day. It should not remain devoid of event much longer, though. Within the next 5 days, there should be a lot more going on. There has not been a mag. 4 out here in over 2 months. There is also due to be more large earthquakes occurring in parts of the world. It has not been active enough anywhere. It may or may not become active worldwide today. There is even a particularly large earthquake due somewhere any time or day now. There is of course a chance it could become active today, however, there may be little going on over the next few days. It should not stay like this much longer. Again, there is a decent chance it could change dramatically later on today. Same goes for Southern California. At this point, a lot is expected by next week. Especially if it continues to stay quiet all this week, then there will likely be a lot of significant activity in the world by next week. A major earthquake is due to strike somewhere any day now. There is a lot of activity due to take place in Southern and Central California within the next several days.
Friday, December 11, 2020
Update: 12/11/20
A magnitude 6.1 struck off Taiwan on Thursday. While the residents in the capital Taipei reported buildings violently shaking, there were no immediate reports of damage. There has been more moderate earthquakes occurring out there. I'm not sure what may be in store for today, but there may not be very much going on right now. There is still a very strong chance of a major earthquake within the week ahead at this point. It has been generally quiet for a long time. The rate of activity still has not changed in Southern California since yesterday. At this point, it may be showing no signs of heating up, however, it could still change later on. This should not be going on for days and days like it did last month.
Wednesday, December 9, 2020
Updated EQ Watch: 12/9-17/20
There is still a very high chance for major earthquake activity somewhere in the world. There may have been more activity taking place, but there still has not been anything particularly significant yet. I extended the watch window into next week. It may or may not be an active day today. I was somewhat doubtful when I made yesterday morning's post. I did not feel that there was anything big going on anywhere just yet. However, it should not be long. Places to look out for may include: Tonga, Vanuatu, the Kermadec Islands region, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Central America, Colombia, the Aleutian Islands(Near Islands), the Kuril Islands region, Japan(Honshu or Hokkaido), Northern Mariana Islands, Philippines(Mindanao or Luzon), East Timor, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Banda Sea region, or Sulawesi), Andaman Islands region, Myanmar, the Hindu Kush region, or Iran.. There have also been signs of more activity increasing here in Southern California so far. We have been due for more significant activity. There is also activity occurring in other parts of the Western U.S. There may also be more going on there. At this point, there should be a large earthquake taking place somewhere this week if it does not act up much today. There is a high potential for a particularly powerful quake within the next week somewhere. It could happen today or tomorrow or perhaps one week from now. There is a very high chance of a major earthquake within the next week at this point. There also should be more going on in Southern California any time or day now.
Tuesday, December 8, 2020
Update: Dec. 8, 2020
So far, there has been a lot of moderate earthquakes occurring in parts of the world over the last day or two. There still has not been a magnitude 6 or bigger anywhere yet. It does look like it has been becoming increasingly active out there. There is due to be a major quake somewhere any time or day now. Places that could be under the gun would include: the Philippines(Luzon, Mindanao), Indonesia, East Timor, Myanmar, Iran, Northern Mariana Islands, Colombia, Central America, Aleutian Islands, Chile, Peru, or Argentina.. There was more activity increasing in Southern California, however, it seemed to have discontinued overnight. However, there is still a very high chance of more taking place anytime or day now. We are still due for more mag. 4+. There has not been one earthquake of magnitude 4 and up in more than 2 months now. Although there is due to be more serious quake activity taking place in the world, it could end up becoming quiet again over the next day or two before it acts up. At the same time, there should be a lot more going on out there by now. There should also still be much more going on in Southern California at least any day now.
Sunday, December 6, 2020
NEW EQ WATCH: Dec. 6-12, 2020
There is now an extremely high chance of major earthquake activity going on somewhere any time now within the week ahead so far. There could be a particularly large event imminent somewhere anytime or any day now. Areas that may be under watch when it comes to potentially strong earthquakes include: the Kuril Islands, Kamchatka Peninsula, Aleutian Islands, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Vanuatu, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia(Sumatra, Sulawesi, or Java), Solomon Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Philippines(Mindanao, Luzon, or the Batan Islands region), Japan, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, or Afghanistan.. There is also the possibility of something going on in the Mediterranean region such as Italy or the Aegean Sea region. More activity has been flaring up in Southern California over the last several days. There could be a lot more coming up within the week ahead or next two weeks at this point. There has also been activity occurring in other parts of California. There may also be something more significant taking place in Southern Alaska or the Gulf of Alaska.

December 2, 2020
There were a couple of more strong earthquakes in the world yesterday. A magnitude 6.4 occurred along the Fox Islands and there was also a magnitude 6.2 in the Balleny Islands region. It is still active out there. There is still a very high potential for more large earthquake activity somewhere in the world this week. There may also be more activity continuing in Southern California and other parts of California. There has yet to be more magnitude 4 or greater events here. It should become active here very soon. It may be any day.
Tuesday, December 1, 2020
Update: December 1, 2020
The activity levels around the world may not look super heated right now, but there were a couple of magnitude 6+ events that occurred yesterday. I was at work then. They each happened 25 seconds apart. There was a magnitude 6.4 in the Strait of Tartar near the Eastern Coast of Russia and a magnitude 6.3 in Jujuy, Argentina. There have been no news reports of said quakes causing damage or injuries in either places. There is still an extremely high potential for more strong earthquakes in the world any time or day now. There is also a chance a magnitude 7 or greater could occur somewhere out there this week, possibly today. At the same time, it could end up becoming relatively quiet again. The regions that could be the next potential candidates for the next significant events would include: Central Asia(Kyrgyzstan, Western China, the Hindu Kush region or Myanmar or Northern India), Indonesia(Sumatra, Halmahera, Sulawesi, or the Banda Sea region), East Timor, Philippines(Mindanao or Luzon), Papua New Guinea, Northern Mariana Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Kermadec Islands region, Japan(Hokkaido or Honshu), Kuril Islands region, Aleutian Islands, Central America, Peru, Chile, or Argentina.. More activity is heating up once more in Southern California. There is again still due to be magnitude 4+ here anytime or day now. There may also be more activity heating up again in the Ridgecrest area and possibly parts of Central and/or Northern California.
Sunday, November 29, 2020
NEW EQ WATCH: 11/29-12/6/20
The potential for major earthquake activity worldwide anytime or day now within the week ahead is extremely high now. There are signs of more strong quake activity occurring in parts of the world after it being so quiet all day yesterday. The regions that could be potential candidates for the next mag. 6+ include: Argentina, Chile, Peru, New Zealand, Tonga, Loyalty Islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia(Sumatra, Sulawesi, or Halmahera), Philippines(Mindanao or Luzon), Kuril Islands, Japan(Honshu or Hokkaido), Aleutian Islands, parts of Central Asia(Western China, Northern India, or Myanmar), or possibly Iran.. There may also be more activity taking place throughout California including Southern California and Northern California. There is again, due to be magnitude 4+ in Southern California anytime or day now. It should not be staying quiet here that much longer. There is likely a lot to come within the week. Again, there is now a very high chance of a large earthquake or two occurring somewhere in the world anytime now or any day within the week ahead so far.
Tuesday, November 24, 2020
Outlook: November 24, 2020
This has probably been the most uneventful month this year. There seems to have been only one magnitude 6 or larger earthquake in the world all month and there has not been a magnitude 4 quake in Southern CA in over a month. It has been too quiet for too long. It could possibly change dramatically today or tomorrow, but it could be another day of relatively low activity. It might be much more active next month. We are nearing the end of this month. There is still a fairly decent chance more significant activity could start increasing in the world today and/or more activity increases in Southern California. However, right now, it looks quite underwhelming. There is still a high potential a lot could start taking place this week. However, I will not be surprised if it remains relatively quiet everywhere throughout the rest of the week.
Sunday, November 22, 2020
Update: November 22, 2020
Late yesterday, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred off the Northwest coast of Maule, Chile. Some more significant earthquake activity was occurring elsewhere in the world earlier including a magnitude 5.5 offshore of the Ibaraki Prefecture of Japan(Honshu). There has not been very much going on after that so far. However, there is still due to be more heavy activity occurring worldwide this week. If it becomes quiet again for now, then there may be more serious activity occurring later this week or within 2-3 days. There was more seismic activity warming up in Southern California, but still nothing explosive and it may be becoming quiet again for right now. However, a magnitude 3-4 or higher tonight or tomorrow is definitely not out of the question here. There is in fact a very strong chance for that this week. There may also be more taking place in Central and/or Northern California any time now.
Saturday, November 21, 2020
Updated EQ Watch: 11/21-27/20
There has been some more seismic activity increasing in parts of the world today. A magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred in Chile late yesterday. There is an extremely high potential for a major earthquake somewhere out there any time now or any day within the week ahead. Regions that could be of potential concern include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Sulawesi), Philippines(Luzon or Mindanao), Papua New Guinea, Japan(Hokkaido), parts of Central Asia(Western China, Myanmar, Pakistan, or Afghanistan), Solomon Islands, Loyalty Islands, Vanuatu, possibly New Zealand, Chile, or Argentina... There has also been some more seismic activity warming up in Southern California today. There still is due to be magnitude 4 or greater here any time or day now. There is again, a very high chance of large earthquake activity in the world any time or day now. It may not be that active out there right now, but more mag. 6+ within the next 2-3 days are highly likely.
Thursday, November 19, 2020
New EQ Watch: November 20-27, 2020
There is a very high chance of more powerful earthquake activity taking place worldwide within the coming week. Right now, it is very quiet out there in the world. It could remain very quiet over the next 2 days before it acts up or it could increase overnight with the chance of a large quake somewhere. There could be a very large earthquake on the horizon somewhere any day now. Regions that may be under the gun would include: the Philippines(Luzon, Babuyan Islands, Batan Islands, or Mindanao), the Northern Mariana Islands, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi), Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Ryukyu Islands, possibly Taiwan, Japan(Hokkaido), Vanuatu, Tonga, Peru, Colombia, or Central America.. Again, there may be little going on for now, but within the next 5-7 days, the chances of more large earthquake activity somewhere out there are extremely high. There are also more signs of activity heating up in Southern California once more. More magnitude 4+ are highly likely within the week ahead. There is due to be a lot more going on at least any day now.
Tuesday, November 17, 2020
Update: 11/17/20
There is now more activity heating up in Southern California. A magnitude 3.5 occurred near Morongo Valley at 11:19 last night. There may be a lot going on today or this week so far. It was so quiet all week last week that there must be more magnitude 4 or larger within the next week. A more significant event any day now is possible. Although it could also end up falling flat again today at the same time, there definitely must be much more to come within the coming weeks. There has also been some more significant earthquake activity taking place elsewhere in the world. A magnitude 5.8 occurred off the West coast of Sumatra, Indonesia yesterday(Pacific Time). There is still a very high chance of strong earthquake activity occurring somewhere. Places to watch out for would include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Molucca Sea region, or Banda Sea region), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Northern Mariana Islands, Ryukyu Islands, parts of Central Asia(Pakistan, Tajikistan region, Xizang, or Myanmar), Andaman Islands region, Peru, Chile, Argentina, or Central America..

Update: 11/16/20
A magnitude 6.1 occurred in the Mindanao region of the Philippines yesterday. There is still due to be a lot taking place in the world anytime or day now. However, it could be quiet before it starts acting up. There is due to be more significant to potentially major earthquake activity taking place in the world this week. Places that may be active would include: Japan(Hokkaido, Honshu, Ryukyu Islands), Taiwan, Central Asia(Pakistan, Xizang, or Myanmar region), Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Banda or Molucca Sea region), Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Vanuatu, Central America, Chile, Peru, or Ecuador.. There has finally been some more activity taking place in Southern California. A magnitude 3.5 occurred in the Loma Linda area overnight - Which happens to be where I work. There may be much more to come. It could be today, tomorrow or later this week. It has been quiet for too long. There may also be more seismic activity occurring elsewhere in California and the Western U.S.
Sunday, November 15, 2020
Update: 11/15/20
There has been more moderate earthquakes taking place out there in the world. However, there may or may not be any large events today. It could become quiet at first. Yet, a magnitude 6 or greater may occur somewhere any time now. There is at least a very high likelihood of magnitude 6 or greater this week. Regions that could be impacted may include: the Ryukyu Islands region, Taiwan, Japan(Hokkaido or Honshu), Kuril Islands, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Vanuatu, Balleny Islands region, Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Banda Sea region), Andaman Islands, Central Asia(such as Myanmar or Pakistan), Central America, Peru.. There has not been enough activity going on in Southern California lately and it is due for much more anytime or day now. There may also be more activity going on in Central California. There has also been some more seismic activity occurring across the United States. There is once again an extremely high potential for strong earthquake activity in the world any time now. If it does not happen today, a strong earthquake is at least likely within the next 5 days at this point so far.

EQ WATCH: November 14-18, 2020
Saturday, November 7, 2020
Update: November 7, 2020
Several significant earthquakes have occurred in the world over the past day. A magnitude 5.8 occurred in the Volcano Islands region(Japan) yesterday. A magnitude 6.0 later occurred in the Shetland Islands region. Then there was another magnitude 6.0 in the Tonga region. There is still a very high chance for more going on out there. There has been some activity increasing in Central Asia, Indonesia, Japan, and Alaska. The activity in Southern California dropped significantly overnight and this morning. There is due to be magnitude 4+ quakes within the week ahead. It could suddenly act up today. It could also stay extremely quiet for now.
Friday, November 6, 2020
EQ WATCH: 11/6-10/20
Tuesday, November 3, 2020
Update: November 3, 2020
There may have not been numerous moderate quakes around the world, but a magnitude 6.0 struck off the coast of Aisen, Chile yesterday evening. There was also a magnitude 5.7 in the Tonga region overnight(Pacific Standard Time). There still may be more significant EQ activity taking place out there. The Pacific Northwest coast or the Gulf of Alaska may have something going on. Of course, it is uncertain. The sequence near Perryville, Alaska could start flaring up again, becoming more active or the Aleutian Islands could become active at any time. Other areas of possible concern may include: Central Asia(Western China, Tajikistan region), Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Banda Sea region), East Timor, Vanuatu, Tonga, Central America or Mexico, Japan(Hokkaido)... At the same time, that could be it for now. There has been signs of more activity heating up in Southern California overnight and this morning. A magnitude 4 or greater is of an increased potential any time or day now once again. These quiet periods have not been lasting very long. There would be a surge in mag. 3+ following days of hardly anything going on recently.
Sunday, November 1, 2020
Update: November 1, 2020
There is still a very high risk for more magnitude 6 or greater worldwide any time now. Over the last 12 hours, more significant activity occurred worldwide. A magnitude 5.7 struck Kepulauan Babar, Indonesia 8 hours ago. There was also some more significant activity taking place in Central America just hours ago. Places that may be at risk include: Indonesia(Sumatra, Java, Banda Sea region), East Timor, Central Asia(Western China, the Himalayas, Tajikistan), Ryukyu Islands region(Japan), Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, Aleutian Islands(Alaska, USA), possibly other parts of Alaska, Central America, Peru, Chile, Shetland Islands... There is also still a very high chance for more activity in Southern California. There is a very high chance of a magnitude 4 or greater any day now. There may also be more activity taking place in Central and/or Northern California as well as other areas of the Western US such as the Yellowstone area. The death toll in Western Turkey from Friday's magnitude 7 earthquake has reached 57 and more than 900 people were injured.
Friday, October 30, 2020
Update: October 30, 2020
A magnitude 6.9 earthquake just struck Greece's Dodecanese Islands, not so far from Istanbul, Turkey. That region is an area of great concern at this point. The Eastern Mediterranean region has been becoming more active recently. This report just came out. There is not a lot of information yet. It has not appeared on the USGS world earthquakes monitor yet. There may still more more significant events occurring elsewhere in the world. There is also more seismic activity warming up in Southern California so far.
Thursday, October 29, 2020
Update: October 29, 2020
Yesterday morning, shortly after I made the most recent Watch post, a set of more significant activity occurred up and down the South American coast from Chile to Peru - the largest being magnitude 5.8. However, the global activity started dying down again later on. I'm waking up and it does not look that active right now. However, there should be a lot more taking place anytime now within the next 5 days. A very large earthquake could be taking place somewhere. This has not been a very active month in terms of strong earthquakes around the world. The activity has also decreased in Southern California overnight, but not too much. There just may be something more significant coming up. I will not be surprised if it is less active today, but it should not be staying quiet for a long time at this point. There is still a very high chance of mag. 3-4+ anytime or within the next several days.
Wednesday, October 28, 2020
New Watch: Oct. 28 - Nov. 3, 2020
Saturday, October 24, 2020
Outlook: 10/14/20
There has not been a lot of significant activity taking place in the world over the last day so far. It could very well stay relatively quiet all day or this weekend. However, a strong earthquake may still be imminent somewhere at any time. A lot could take place later this coming week or into the early part of November. There may also be a lot coming up in Southern California as well as other areas of the state. The regions in parts of the world that could be struck next with significant or major activity may include: Southern Greece, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Mexico(SW Mexico or Baja California), Philippines(Luzon), Indonesia(Sumatra, Sulawesi, Kepulauan Barat Daya region), New Guinea, Tonga, Fiji, Taiwan, Japan, Kuril Islands, Aleutian Islands, possibly the Yukon Territory, Gulf of Alaska, Northern Mariana Islands.. There may or may not be any large quakes taking place today or tomorrow, but there should be much more to come within the week ahead at this point. There is also due to be a lot more to come in Southern California as well as Central California so far.

Update: October 23, 2020
So far, the world EQ map may look somewhat scant, but 2 earthquakes of mag. 6+ have occurred over the past 10 hours. A mag. 6.0 struck the West Chile Rise and then 2 hours later, a magnitude 6.1 occurred South of the Fiji Islands. That does not seem very significant because the West Chile Rise is a remote area and was along a small divergent part of the Nazca and Antarctic plates. The one near the Fiji Islands was far too deep and nowhere near land. At this point, it may go back to being relatively quiet out there in the world for now. However, there is still a high potential for more large earthquake activity going on somewhere within the next several days. There has also been more taking place along parts of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. There is the possibility of something going on in Iceland. However, there may not be much significant activity going on anywhere at all yet. The areas of potential concern may include: New Guinea, Indonesia(Kepulauan Barat Daya, Sulawesi, Sumatra), East Timor, Northern Mariana Islands, Peru, Bolivia, the Aleutian Islands, Gulf of Alaska, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand, Greece or possibly other parts of the Mediterranean including Italy... Again, while there is still a high potential for more strong earthquake activity in the world, it could end up becoming quiet again. There has also been more activity increasing in Southern California. There was a flare-up down at the Southern end of the Salton Sea yesterday afternoon and some more happened overnight. There has also been a number of quakes occurring in the Mojave Desert near the town of Barstow.

Update: October 21, 2020
A magnitude 5.9 occurred in the Tonga region late yesterday(California time). Some more moderate quakes occurred in parts of the world overnight, including some new activity in Sichuan, China. There has been some more seismic activity warming up in Southern California, but there may be nothing going on here right now. It is due to heat up once more in this area with a high chance of magnitude 4 or greater any time or day now. There is still a very high chance of more mag. 6+ worldwide any time now.
Tuesday, October 20, 2020
Update: Oct. 20, 2020
A magnitude 7.5 earthquake occurred near Sandpoint, Alaska yesterday afternoon. The quake generated a small tsunami - 2 waves that were 4 feet, 3 inches high. Yesterday's major earthquake was likely an aftershock of a magnitude 7.8 that hit the same region a few months ago. This has been the first magnitude 7 or greater in the world since. There seems to be not much going on elsewhere worldwide. Although, more mag. 6+ elsewhere are likely this week, anytime or day now. Other potential candidates for the next mag. 6 or greater would include: Chile, Bolivia or Peru, Central America, Indonesia(Banda Sea region, Sumatra), Philippines(Luzon), New Guinea, Tonga, Kermadec Islands, Japan, Kuril Islands, Afghanistan, Prince Edward Islands(Southwest Indian Ridge), Greece.. More seismic activity has also started heating up again in Southern California. Yesterday morning, a magnitude 3.1 occurred in the Mojave Desert, which was an aftershock of a magnitude 3.6 that occurred the previous evening. A magnitude 3.4 occurred 13 miles Southwest of Ocotillo Wells at 3:30 this morning. There may still be more going on today. There has also been some more activity taking place in Northern California.
Monday, October 19, 2020
Update: Oct. 19, 2020
The global activity is not still low, but there should be more mag. 6+ taking place anytime now. A major earthquake is due somewhere anytime or day now at this point. There is definitely more moderate earthquake activity taking place out there so far. Sumatra, Indonesia looks like it may be becoming more active. Two mag. 5.1 EQs occurred along the coast of Sumatra a few hours ago, each 4 minutes apart. Twins. There may not be that much going on right now, but there should be much more to come at least this week. Regions that may be affected would include: Indonesia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Myanmar, New Guinea, Philippines(Luzon), Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Taiwan, Japan, Kuril Islands, Greece, Bolivia, Peru, Central America, British Columbia/Gulf of Alaska... I also want to remind the readers that the listed places are potential candidates for the next round of significant EQ activity - Not implying that they will all act up at once. There is also more activity occurring in Southern California as well as other parts of the state. A magnitude 3.5 occurred near Ludlow at 8:34 last night. Some more activity is heating up in the Ridgecrest area as well as with the sequence in Nevada. There may be more taking place in Southern and Central California today. There is a lot more that is due to be taking place in this area.

10-13-20
I had a feeling it was going to become extremely quiet before much more takes place in the world. It is uncertain how long this will continue. It could stay quiet all week or just for another day or two. At the same time, it could suddenly act up somewhere anytime today. A magnitude 7 or greater could be imminent somewhere anytime now or sometime within the next week. I want to be careful. I don't want to be vague about it and just say that a strong earthquake may occur somewhere any time now or within a given time frame. It seems I could be issuing those watches every week. I should try to specify where the most energy may be coming from. There has been a lot of activity taking place in Central America most recently as well as Greece and parts of Central Asia such as Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Myanmar. However, I cannot entirely rely on "signs" of where something more serious may be going on. I am also monitoring Northern Chile, Peru, and Bolivia. There does not necessarily have to be numerous earthquakes taking place there to herald that a significant event might happen anytime or day now. I have also been growing increasingly cautious around here, Southern California as well as Central California. Other areas in the world I'm aware of are the Ryukyu Islands region, Northern Mariana Islands, and possibly Taiwan. There may also be more activity going on in Hawaii, especially volcanic-wise. That is not a place I give much attention to as it is in the middle of the Pacific Plate and is situated on a hotspot. Although, there also might not be anything going on there that would be concerning. It may be coming from the West, far across the Pacific. It also feels like most of the energy is far in a Southern direction. Parts of Indonesia such as Sulawesi and Halmahera may also be active again.

Update: 10/8/20
Overnight, there was a magnitude 6.3 in Eastern Papua New Guinea. This region experiences significant earthquakes quite often. There are continuing to be more signs of strong earthquakes out there in the world. It is becoming very active in parts now after it being very quiet over the past few days. There may be some potential concern going on in the Caribbean Sea region or Colombia as it has been more active most recently in those areas. Other places of potential concern would include: the Solomon Islands, Indonesia(Ceram Sea region, Sumatra, Sulawesi), parts of Central Asia such as Afghanistan and Myanmar, the Aleutian Islands, South Sandwich Islands, and Central America.. The activity here in Southern California has dropped considerably. It is becoming very quiet here again after it had been showing signs of becoming more significantly active last week. However, it could end up increasing again today, but at the same time, it may not. There could also be more activity taking place elsewhere in California.

Update: October 6, 2020
Some more significant EQ activity has started to occur in the world over the last 6 hours. A magnitude 5.9 occurred near the Alaska Peninsula overnight(likely an aftershock from a major quake a few months ago) and a magnitude 6 occurred in the Fiji region about 2 hours ago. It was very deep, though. There may still be more to come anytime now somewhere. At the same time, that could be it for now. A magnitude 7 or greater is due somewhere at any time or any day. However, it could be another week or two before the next major event somewhere out there. Some more seismic activity has heated up in Southern California overnight. There could potentially be more to come today and/or tomorrow. More significant earthquake activity might be on the rise within the coming days or week at this point. It could become quiet again for now, but there is now a high potential for more significant activity very soon. In terms of the rest of the world, the potential candidates for the next significant to large events may include: Myanmar or other parts of Central Asia, the Andaman Islands region, Indonesia, Philippines(Luzon), the Northern Mariana Islands, Greece, Western Turkey, possibly Italy, New Zealand, Central America, Iceland, Chile, Argentina, or Bolivia... It may also be none of these places that could get hit next with significant activity. I did not specify where in Indonesia could be potentially under the gun for the next set of serious activity. Much of Indonesia is very seismically active. There may or may not be more large earthquakes out there anytime now, but there is still a high chance a lot could take place any time or day now or later this week.

Update: Oct. 5, 2020
So far, there has more of less been much going on in the world in terms of significant EQ activity. There have been more moderate sized earthquakes taking place, but there is still yet to be much larger events going on somewhere any time or day now. It could become extremely quiet at first. There may not be anything going on anywhere today or tomorrow and then a large event might occur later this week. At the same time, it may shift today. There is due to be a magnitude 7 or greater taking place somewhere any moment or day now. Within the next week, more mag. 6+ worldwide are expected. Places that may be of potential concern would include: Central America, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Indonesia, the Andaman Islands region, Japan, the Aleutian Islands or Southwestern Alaska, the Kermadec Islands, Papua New Guinea, Philippines(Luzon), parts of the Middle East and/or Turkey... Close to home, there is less going on in Southern California now. The swarm has started dying down a lot yesterday and there has not been much going on this morning at all. However, it still could heat up more later. There may also be more mag. 3+ occurring elsewhere in California or the Western U.S.

Update: October 1, 2020
A very active earthquake swarm has been taking place in the Brawley Seismic Zone near Westmorland in Southern California since yesterday afternoon. The largest of those earthquakes was a magnitude 4.9 at 5:31 P.M. yesterday. We are all watching it very closely. This swarm has been impressive. According to seismologists, the swarm is not quite close enough to trigger the San Andreas Fault. A larger quake with this swarm is possible. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, a magnitude 6.4 struck near Tonga about 10 hours ago. No damage was reported from residents of Tonga's capital of Nuku'alofa. There was also no risk of a tsunami. A magnitude 6.0 occurred in Papua New Guinea about an hour ago and it was at a much deeper focal depth. There still may be more large earthquake activity on the rise in parts of the world. The Eastern Mediterranean Sea region is still a possible area of concern. There are still other candidates for the next major quake such as Indonesia, the Aleutian Islands, and Central America. Again, the ongoing swarm in Southern California will continued to be monitored. Be prepared. Drop, cover, and hold on whenever you feel a sizeable quake start taking place, especially if the shaking becomes increasingly violent.

Update: September 26, 2020
A magnitude 6.0 occurred near the Prince Edwards Islands area, Southwest of South Africa today. There is a very high chance for more strong quakes in the world anytime now, but at the same time, there may not be much else going on just yet. Regions that may be under the gun include: the Kuril Islands region, Kamchatka Peninsula, Japan(Hokkaido or Honshu), the Northern Mariana Islands region, Indonesia(Babar Islands region, Molucca Sea region), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Solomon Islands, the Hindu Kush or Himalayas region or the Turkmenistan region, the Eastern Mediterranean Sea region... There may likely be more mag. 4+ taking place in Southern Alaska such as the Peninsula region or the Aleutian Islands. There continues to be more seismic activity heating up in Southern California.

Update: Sept. 25, 2020
There has been a few moderate size events out there, but there still has not been very much going on yet. There should be more strong earthquake activity going on any time now or any day within the next 5 or 6 days at this point. A strong earthquake within that window is highly likely. It just may or may not act up much today. It could in fact become incredibly quiet at first. However, there is a very high potential for magnitude 6 or greater earthquakes somewhere worldwide. The Greece region has been looking concerning lately. It has been showing signs of acting up significantly there most recently, over the last 2 days. The activity in Southern California has decreased, but there is still a lot due within the week ahead so far. Alaska may have some more significant activity going on, especially in the Aleutian Islands or the Southwest corner. There may be some volcanic activity going on there.
