There may not be a lot going on out there in the world right now when it comes to significant earthquakes, but there is now a very high chance that could change dramatically any time now or sometime within the next 5-7 days at this point so far. There is even an extremely high potential for a magnitude 7 or greater striking somewhere. There is also a heightened potential for something more significant taking place in Southern California or Central California within the next 2 weeks or sooner so far. Don't be alarmed when I say this. I don't necessarily mean that "the big one" is coming next week. First of all, I would never jump the gun like that. I don't want to be one of those people who boldly go around alarming people, believing that a large quake is going to hit tomorrow or anything like that. Nothing is written in stone. It changes all the time. It has just been becoming steadily more active here. It can go from 0 to 90 in a matter of minutes. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, a major earthquake is due somewhere any day now. It could happen today or it could remain very quiet out there for now. Regions that could be potential candidates for the next set of significant seismic activity would include: The Mediterrreanean Sea region from Italy to Western Turkey(one of those places), parts of Central Asia such as the Caspian Sea region and the Hindu Kush to Myanmar, Indonesia(Kepulauan Babar, Banda Sea region, Molucca Sea region), Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Kermadec Islands region, Northern Mariana Islands, possibly Taiwan, Japan(Ryukyu Islands, Northern Honshu, or Hokkaido), Aleutian Islands... At this point, it may or may not act up much out there right now, but a strong earthquake within the next few days somewhere is highly likely.

Outlook: 9/29/20
There was only one strong earthquake in the world over the past week and it occurred in a remote part of the world. At this point, it could remain quiet for another day or two before more significant activity takes place. At the same time, a strong earthquake could be imminent somewhere at any moment. There could even be a magnitude 7 or higher bound to strike somewhere any time or day now. The Eastern Mediterranean Sea region - Somewhere from Italy to Greece and Turkey may be hot right now. There has been a lot of activity taking place there recently. Parts of Central Asia have also been showing signs of becoming significantly active lately. At home, there has been little going on here in Southern California this morning. The activity was decreasing yesterday after it had been showing signs of heating up. There is still much more to come within the next week or two. If it stays quiet here all day today, there might be more going on again within the next 2-3 days.

Update: September 26, 2020
A magnitude 6.0 occurred near the Prince Edwards Islands area, Southwest of South Africa today. There is a very high chance for more strong quakes in the world anytime now, but at the same time, there may not be much else going on just yet. Regions that may be under the gun include: the Kuril Islands region, Kamchatka Peninsula, Japan(Hokkaido or Honshu), the Northern Mariana Islands region, Indonesia(Babar Islands region, Molucca Sea region), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Solomon Islands, the Hindu Kush or Himalayas region or the Turkmenistan region, the Eastern Mediterranean Sea region... There may likely be more mag. 4+ taking place in Southern Alaska such as the Peninsula region or the Aleutian Islands. There continues to be more seismic activity heating up in Southern California.

Update: Sept. 25, 2020
There has been a few moderate size events out there, but there still has not been very much going on yet. There should be more strong earthquake activity going on any time now or any day within the next 5 or 6 days at this point. A strong earthquake within that window is highly likely. It just may or may not act up much today. It could in fact become incredibly quiet at first. However, there is a very high potential for magnitude 6 or greater earthquakes somewhere worldwide. The Greece region has been looking concerning lately. It has been showing signs of acting up significantly there most recently, over the last 2 days. The activity in Southern California has decreased, but there is still a lot due within the week ahead so far. Alaska may have some more significant activity going on, especially in the Aleutian Islands or the Southwest corner. There may be some volcanic activity going on there.

New EQ Watch: 9/24-29/20
There may not be very much going on in the world right now in terms of significant earthquakes, but there is a very high potential for magnitude 6+ events somewhere within the next several days so far. There could even be a magnitude 7 or greater imminent somewhere. A magnitude 6 or larger earthquake is of an extremely high chance any time now in the world. It may or may not happen today, but it is highly likely within the next few days at this point. Places that may be potential candidates for the next mag. 6 or greater events would include: Japan, Indonesia(the Banda Sea region or Molucca Sea), East Timor, Papua New Guinea, Guam(Northern Mariana Islands), Philippines, the Tonga region, Central Asia(Pakistan Afghanistan, Myanmar, or the Himalayas), Greece, Turkey... Once again, it may or may not act up out there today, but there should be more taking place within the next several days at this point. There has also continued to be more seismic activity on the rise in Southern California so far. There still may be much more to come within the week ahead. There is also signs of more activity taking place in the Mammoth Lakes area and more activity has warmed up in the Searles Valley area. In Southern California, I am starting to watch the Mojave Desert more between the Ridgecrest sequence, Johannesburg, and other parts of that region.

Update: 9/18/20
A magnitude 6.8 earthquake just occurred in the Central Mid-Atlantic Ridge. I suspected the next large quake would occur in an innocuous part of the world. There has recently been more earthquakes occurring along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge which is a divergent plate boundary. However, there is still a strong chance of mag. 6-7+ elsewhere worldwide anytime now and the next big one could strike somewhere where it could be a much more dangerous situation. It could be any time now or it could be next week at this point. So far, there is still a very high potential for serious seismic activity somewhere in the world. Places that could be hit include: Central Asia(Tajikistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, or Xizang), Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Japan, Aleutian Islands, Kamchatka Peninsula, Kuril Islands, Greece, or Central America.. There may or may not be more activity going on in Southern California right now just yet. However, there is an extremely high chance of mag. 4 or greater any day now. There is due to once again be much more to come. At this point, there is a very high chance of major earthquake activity going on somewhere in the world any time now, but it could also die back down again.

Sept. 17, 2020
There is now an extremely high chance of a major earthquake somewhere in the world any moment now or some time within the next 5 days so far. The potential for mag. 6-7+ has increased even higher just now. It may end up becoming quiet out there again, but there may be a lot more significant activity going on within the next week at this point. Regions that may be under the gun include: Indonesia, the Andaman Islands region, parts of Central Asia(somewhere from Xizang to the Hindu Kush region), Philippines(Luzon or the Batan and Babuyan Islands region), Kuril Islands, Kamchatka Peninsula, Japan, the Southwestern Pacific ROF(somewhere from the Solomon Islands to Tonga and the Kermadec Islands), the Aleutian Islands, and/or Central America(including Southern Mexico).. Those named regions could be the next potential candidates for the next large event. At the same time, it could become quiet again for now and then start back up again in about 2 or 3 days. There is still a very high chance of more magnitude 6 or greater out there with the potential for a magnitude 7 or greater somewhere. There is also continuing to be a high chance of more seismic activity increasing around Southern California any time now. More mag. 3-4+ should be on the rise within the coming days at this point. There is also a potential for more going on elsewhere in California and/or other parts of the Western United States such as Idaho.
