Update: 9/18/20

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake just occurred in the Central Mid-Atlantic Ridge. I suspected the next large quake would occur in an innocuous part of the world. There has recently been more earthquakes occurring along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge which is a divergent plate boundary. However, there is still a strong chance of mag. 6-7+ elsewhere worldwide anytime now and the next big one could strike somewhere where it could be a much more dangerous situation. It could be any time now or it could be next week at this point. So far, there is still a very high potential for serious seismic activity somewhere in the world. Places that could be hit include: Central Asia(Tajikistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, or Xizang), Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Japan, Aleutian Islands, Kamchatka Peninsula, Kuril Islands, Greece, or Central America.. There may or may not be more activity going on in Southern California right now just yet. However, there is an extremely high chance of mag. 4 or greater any day now. There is due to once again be much more to come. At this point, there is a very high chance of major earthquake activity going on somewhere in the world any time now, but it could also die back down again.

There is now an extremely high chance of a major earthquake somewhere in the world any moment now or some time within the next 5 days so far. The potential for mag. 6-7+ has increased even higher just now. It may end up becoming quiet out there again, but there may be a lot more significant activity going on within the next week at this point. Regions that may be under the gun include: Indonesia, the Andaman Islands region, parts of Central Asia(somewhere from Xizang to the Hindu Kush region), Philippines(Luzon or the Batan and Babuyan Islands region), Kuril Islands, Kamchatka Peninsula, Japan, the Southwestern Pacific ROF(somewhere from the Solomon Islands to Tonga and the Kermadec Islands), the Aleutian Islands, and/or Central America(including Southern Mexico).. Those named regions could be the next potential candidates for the next large event. At the same time, it could become quiet again for now and then start back up again in about 2 or 3 days. There is still a very high chance of more magnitude 6 or greater out there with the potential for a magnitude 7 or greater somewhere. There is also continuing to be a high chance of more seismic activity increasing around Southern California any time now. More mag. 3-4+ should be on the rise within the coming days at this point. There is also a potential for more going on elsewhere in California and/or other parts of the Western United States such as Idaho.

Update: Sept. 15, 2020

 

A magnitude 6.4 struck Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula about 8-9 hours ago. Less than an hour later, a magnitude 6.1 tremor struck the Fiji region. There is a raised potential for more magnitude 6 or greater out there in the world any moment or day now. However, it may also become quiet again for now and there not be anymore significant events for a couple more days. The seismic activity may also be increasing some more today in Southern California. There was not very much going on overnight, but there should be more going on this week. There are also signs of more activity increasing the the Ridgecrest area so far. In terms of earthquakes around the world, there is a high chance of mag. 7+ somewhere any time or day now. At the same time, there may not be one at all for now, but it may be becoming more active out there again any time or day now. It could be within a week or two weeks at this point.

Update: Sept. 14, 2020

 There has been a lot of moderate sized earthquakes occurring worldwide. However, there may or may not be anything of magnitude 6 and above going on yet. There is still a very high chance of large earthquakes somewhere out there any time now. It could happen today or later this week. It may also become quiet again at first. Yesterday, a moderate and shallow quake struck Sulawesi(Indonesia) and it caused some considerable damage and injuries. There is still a very high risk of large earthquake activity somewhere out there any time or day now. It could become quiet again for now, but there is likely to be more mag. 6+ out there within the next 5 days. There also is due to be more mag. 3-4+ in Southern California. There has not been much activity going on here for a while. It was extremely quiet all week last week. Places around the world that should be watched out for would include: Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands region, Tonga, Kermadec Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Ryukyu Islands(Japan), Philippines, Japan(Hokkaido or Honshu), Kamchatka peninsula, Alaska(Southern AK or the Aleutian Islands), possibly parts of the Caribbean, Bolivia, or possibly the Eastern Mediterranean Sea region...

New EQ Watch: Sept. 13 - 23, 2020

 

There is now a very high chance of magnitude 6+ worldwide any time or day now so far. There is even a very high chance of mag. 7+ somewhere anytime within the next week ahead or any time now. More activity has started to warm up again. At the same time, it could become quiet for now and act up later this week. However, there is a heightened chance for more large EQs somewhere in the world any time now. Regions that may be under the gun include: Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Japan(Izu Islands, Hokkaido), Kuril Islands, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, Hindu Kush region, Turkey, Greece, Bolivia, Central America.. There should also be more activity increasing in Southern California this week with a high chance of mag. 3-4+ any day now. Other parts of California could experience more mag. 3+ events anytime or day now including the Cloverdale area. I will be providing updates as the week goes along.

Update: Sept. 11, 2020

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Northern Chile, 51 miles NNE of Tocopilla overnight. There have been no reports of injuries or damage so far. This was probably an aftershock of the recent set of strong earthquakes along Chile's Northern coast. Otherwise, there has not been much else going on worldwide. There were no other significant earthquakes anywhere else in the world so far. It could remain like this well into the weekend or there could suddenly be a lot going on today or tomorrow. There is the possibility of a magnitude 7 or greater somewhere any day now. There could possibly be a mag. 8 imminent somewhere. There has not been a magnitude 8.something yet this year. Of course, magnitude 8s don't always happen once a year. There still has been little going on in Southern California. There have been hours-long intervals between mag. 1s here in Southern California and it has been this way all week. It has showed no signs of changing whatsoever. It could stay quiet well into the weekend or it could increase dramatically later on - whether it be today or tomorrow. It has been too quiet for too long. It has acted up in other parts of California. A magnitude 4 aftershock occurred in the Olancha area early this morning. It still has not shown any signs of picking up again here in the area South of the Tehachapi Mountains and Garlock Fault, North of the Mexico border. There should be more magnitude 4+ quakes going on in this region by now. There should at least be a lot more going on by next week at this point.

Update: Sept. 9, 2020

It looks like it may be an extremely uneventful week. At the same time, a major earthquake could still suddenly occur somewhere out there any day now. Late last night, there were signs of it becoming active again, but then it stopped. The overall activity around the world is very low right now. There still is a chance it could heat up again today, but it also might not. There has been very little going on in Southern California over the past 2-3 days. It still is showing little or no signs of acting up right now. It could continue like this for another day or possibly a little longer. However, it could suddenly heat up again later whether it be today, tomorrow, or this weekend. There is a lot more to be taking place here within the week ahead at this point.
